Where to take a 13 year old for his first trip to the UP

Go to Seney
Stay at the Fox River motel
Don Reed is the owner and president of Michigan Snowmobile Association.
Ask him to be you guide. You will go places very few ever see.

Did you buy the red 05 Warrior from him?[/quote]

Yes I did about 2 years ago this feb

Yup we were there and almost bought it, small world I am trying to remember but it did not have many miles on it.

Not bad I know your from Iowa and snow is hard to come by there. So all or most must be in the UP?

When do you plan on going up? Me, My wife and father-in-law are planning on going up around Jan. 5th and there would be no pressure there to keep up. The father-in-law likes to ride about 50-60 but not much more. There is also a lot less traffic after the holidays and we don't go to the bars. It would be perfect for the boy and give the Yammi's a good run!

Break him in properly and take him to Pine Stump!

Where praytell is tht at.

Someplace bad where 1972 Puma's and 1973 TNT's break down and the trails are never groomed. Well, at least that was my experience when I was 13! There is a bar there. That is about all I can remember. That and the poetry the patrons would write on small paper plates and hang on the walls and ceiling. I remember some guy wrote something to the effect of "At first I tried to Entice Her, then I had to Excite Her, and finally I Phazed Her" (all plays on Yamaha sled names at the time - Enticer, Exciter, Phazer). It was all very funny to me and very "grown up" at the time. It was my first bar experience with sledders!

Take him to Houghton, Marquette, or town like Newberry. Take him to a hotel with a pool so he has something to do when your done riding. Plus, these places will have more food options.

where

all depends when you come, if there's good snow stay south, keep away from the hub's. i have been riding in u.p. for 35 yrs i now live in naubinway

Steopson just passed his safety test with a near perfect score, and works his tail of helping out around the place. So to reward him, and to get me an extra trip to the UP, I am going to take him up for a few days. I have been thinking of ridding out of watersmeet or White Pine, as I know the areas pretty well. I also thought maybe Ishpeming. I will be taking him by himself so there is no preasure to "keep up" with the big boys. Whats everyone think. Any favorite areas you'd take a newby. he will be impressed no matter where we go. Maxdlx

Why go all the way to the UP?

Because he has always wanted to go with me on one of my trips up there, and i don't ride Ws. Maxdlx

ps Forgot one more reason. It gets me another 3 day trip to the UP LOL
