I tried buying it on both my RX-1 and Warrior and both times my dealer said to save my money. He sells Yamaha, Doo and Polaris and said the only times the Yamaha's come back is when someone wrecks them.

Thanks Mighty. The trouble is...a dealer really has an incentive to tell us that since he will make 2X the money to repair any issues we might have if we have to dip into our pocket to pay for them...than if Yamaha is reimbursing them under YES. :?

Our dealer is saying the same thing. My buddy must have asked him 10 times and he still kept telling him to save his money.
But in 10 months I am sure I will ask him as well when my 1 year is almost up. :?

There is someone selling it on EBAY... pretty cheap!
the problem with warranty is that 90% of the time... they wont cover a problem anyways..

I bought a NEW holdover '03 less than 60 days ago. The dealer said it had no warranty because it was a holdover machine. I was OK w/that - got a great price.
Anyway, would it qualify for a YES warranty?

Say what? You better call directly in to Yamaha to discuss this. The *manufacturer's* warranty comes from the manufacturer...not the dealer. I've bought brand new holdover machines from previous model years myself and they *always* come with the Yamaha factory warranty that doesn't start ticking untilthe day you take delivery of the sled.
It sounds like some people here are too trusting of what dealers tell you. In my past experience...good honest dealers that are interested in anything other than what is in *their* best interests are hard to come by.
It took me 20+ years...but I MAY have just found one in my area...and I am  ed

I just purchased a holdover 04 and I have the full 1 year warranty. It's not up to the dealer.

They dont cover belts, tracks (unless of a miracle) or any other wearing items..
They might cover an engine problem ... IF YOUR DEALER DOESNT SCREW IT UP ON YOU!! and more than likely the engine will be bullet proof unless you hit a rock on the oil pan and then Yamaha wont cover driver error..

Common problems I've read about here include:
Busted "w" arm (covered by YES?). WHat if it brakes and takes out the track? All covered?
RA cable (on the '05). Covered?
The occassional meltdown of the engine.... covered or not seems to be in question depending on circumstance.
---
I'd probably pay $500 for YES for my '03 if I could get it, but I'll think about it for another year ('til the warranty expires) for my '05.

Save your money, don't buy an extended warranty. The insurer always comes out better than the insured. If it broke down on you that much this season, get a different sled.
