Ok guys im sure this has been asked a million times but what is everyones thoughts on the best motor oil to run in the turbo sleds, the apex to be more specific. I have heard alot of diffent things but want to see what most think is the best, cost is no concern for me when it comes to this, I want to use the best for it, I dont believe in cutting corners or shortening the life of my engine just to save a few bucks. Im very strict with the service of everything I own, so any help would be great!

I use Mobil 1 in both my boosted sleds, and have never had any issues. As long as you run a good brand name synthetic you'll be fine. Mobil 1, Amsoil, Redline, Royal Purple, etc are all good ones. Don't run conventional unless you plan on changing it more often. Synthetic doesn't break down with added engine stress as fast as conventional. Still gets dirty, just doesn't break down.

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate the help. Someone told me to use rotella t6 synthetic. I questioned it because that particular oil is for diesels. What are your thoughts on it?

lots of guys are running that oil with zero issues. not sure how many if any are running it with boost but that should not matter its still full synthetic and being for a diesel most are turbo.

Ok, thank you. The reason I ask is I have that oil on stock for our equipment, so I thought it would work out if I can use it. I will give it a try and just change it earlier than normal to see how it looks, I can also send a sample off to certified lab technologies to have it tested to see what areas have broke down and how much life was left to it, we currently are sending oil from our equipment to be tested so It wouldn't cost me anything to throw in a sample out of my sled. Thanks again for the help guys. Its much appreciated.

I'm definitely not a chemist, but I do believe that the diesel oils have more/different detergents or something in them that deals with the exhaust soot issues. I personally don't think I'd run the diesel stuff, but I would doubt there's anything harmful in it.

The problem is I have just finished up the oil change and used the rotella t6. Do you think I will be ok if I just put a couple rides in with this oil then change it out? If I have to I will drain it out and use what is supported to be in it, id rather go through the work and change it again if need be. I dont want to cut any corners or risk the life of my engine.

What is the shell rotella? 15w40?

Im no expert, but i thought the reason behind using 0w40 was so when you first start the sled up that oil gets up to the cams fast.

rotella T6 is a 5-40. not ideal for extreme cold starts, but not that bad either.

Ya youll be fine with that. I have a couple buddies with turbo apex that run Castrol conventional 5w30 and the sleds run hard. Youre supposed to change the oil fairly often anyways with the turbo.

Just let it warm up a little before you start riding and you'll be fine. I'd change it out to a 0w30 synthetic when you can though.
