Yes and no, I heard but can't substantiate that the walker evans requires more rebuilds then the fox or rydeFX. They are more purpose built for racing so they are better when they work, question is how long is the servicable limit.
My suspension is A 2005 IQ skid with Walker Evans It is Identical to the 2004 Pro-x and is still called A Pro-X skid in 2007. The Pro-x skid design came along before the Pro-x badged sled.
The Walker Evans are just as or more bullet-proof than any other shock manufacture. It is as any other shock out there the harder you ride the quicker you will boil the oil in the shock thus requiring rebuild. ANy shock requires A rebuild after the oil has gotten hot. IMO the Walker Evans are superior in design and quality than both Fox and RydeFX and under normal usage should last equally between services.
