I bought an RTX last year. I really love the sled. The Fox floats surprized me. They work awesome.
I am about 210 without gear and needed the heavier rear spring.
I like the Mono. The only thing that bothered me was the idler wheels and the track rub on the shock body.
I think the best sled for you is the RTX. If you are beating up mogels most of your trips, that would be the way to go.
I ride mostly Northern Ontario and Quebec. Smooth, flat, high speed trails.

The 136 handles just as good as my 121 monoshock 2005 RX1. The rider forward position keeps the weight off of the rear part of the track untill you want the straight away bite. And you won't believe the ride!

I was at my dealer last night, he practically begged me to "spin the wheel" for ski doo savings on a left over 06 Mach z. The nice thing about this dealer is he is ski doo and yamaha. I sat on the Mach, a rev, a renegade, then the apex and attack. I noticed even on the Mach you sit about 3-4 inches farther forward than the yamaha. when i sit on the apex and look under the sled, i am only slightly ahead of the rear wheels. this to me doesn't seem very rider forward? I know the rev is a little more extreme, but on the apex my feet are still 3 inches ahead of my knees. I like the rider forward for my back (getting older) but don't know if the apex is rider forward enough? I am not looking for ditch banging, but what are the thoughts of the guys who rode both as far as not being too similar to the older conventional seating???

Do some reading over on Doo talk before you commit to a Mach. I was also in the market for the Mach till I read of all the crank failures and fuel map issues. If you decide on a Mach, get an 07 they now have liquid cooled crank cases.
I might agree with the less rider forward sitting position on the Apex, but I have friends who tell me it is easy to bang up your knees on the Mach when your up close to the bars riding hard.
Other thing you may want to think about is the engine braking on the Apex. I have a feeling it takes some time to get to used to after leaving 2 strokes...

the other thing I am looking into is a boss seat for an apex. this would raise me up 1.5 or 3 inches and keep my a$$ higher. the question is with the four stroke exhaust under the seat, will a boss seat work?

IMO the Revs are uncomfortable.(too far forward). ALot of guys last year said the Mach didnt ride as good as the Apex..
add a pivoting rox riser to the apex and you can adjust the riding postion by adjusting the bars..

All the Doo 1000's have liquid cooled cases. Same motor from 05 to 07 just different ECU programs from year to year to address issues.
I came from a Mach Z I would never go back to one again. The rev is still the best handling sled in the biz. The Apex's are the smoothest, that being said a stiffer sway bar in my 06 will make all the difference. To make the mach rideable I had to switch out the front shocks for the longer ones from a REV even the Mach Z X is to soft and the front end to short to pound though a trail.
I chum around with Aaron Dunet, Jeff Schliepp, and Jason Reetz, know any of 'em?Soldier'spapa said:Rehm,
I echo your sentiments. I have switched from Doo this year. My choice is the Attak GT. I have heard that the Attak is sprung and valved a little tighter in the rear than the Apex. I like the rebound and compression adjustability in the shocks of the GT. From your post it is obvious that ride and handling are quite important to you...me too... It is my opinion that Yamaha has put together the most complete package of all the manufactures and therefor got my $$ this time around.
Let us know what you decide on. Also, let me know if you would like to ride together this winter. I have been hanging around Coloma WI for the last 33 years. Wood lake to be exact ... love the prime rib at the "Bull Dog".
I have my wife's Formula 500 to ride this year, but unless a monster deal lands in my lap, I won't buy until next year.
Newborn and remodeling projects come first.
When the white stuff comes, I definitely want to take a look at your ride.

Nope don't know any of these guys.
Oh the newborn stage of life... Nothing sweeter! Can also be one of the more challenging times as well. Mine are grown. Cherish the time they are small.
If anyone in your group is serious about getting a new Yammi this season, my dealer in Illinois sells them about as inexpensivly as you'll find. My wife and I were there yesterday picking up some accessories and they have a full selection of sleds on hand. I tried to steer her towards a 4-stroke, but she does not want to part with her Skidoo GSX.
We are headed to the UP twice in early December and won't be to Wood lake till New Years weekend. Maybe we could hook up then.
