Hi
New to the forums.
I'm debating with myself over wich track to go for. The 14x121x1.5" freeride or a 13.5x128x1.375" arctic track (#1602-503). Cost is not a concern, will be about the same.
Some preliminary meassurements gives that the 128" has a slightly larger footprint depsite being narrower. The other has taller lugs though.
How do you think the will differ performance wise? On trail and off trail?
To those of you how have any of these:
- how many mph on top did you loose?
- did you have to gear down and/or re-clutch? (from 18/41)

Mac, please take a moment and enter your location in your profile so that other site members know where you ride.
Where do you ride? Why do you want to change tracks? That is, what is it that you are trying to improve upon?

McM,
I looked at the same thing last year and after a lot of reading and asking questions, I decided to go with the 14x1.5x136 freeride with the rail extensions from www.tracksusa.com I bought it as a package this spring with plans to install it this summer. I am in the process of moving to Texas and I will be selling the kit. It is brand new, in the box, for $525.00 plus shipping. Shipping should be about $25-30. Good luck in your decision. There is a lot of good info on this topic on this site.

Done! I'm norweigan, happy to see a few other scandinavians/europeans around here!

Well, I'd like better traction both on trail and off trail, not interested in studs though. I don't know, but maybe these tracks might be similar enough not to make any percivable difference?. Bascially I was wondering if the slightly smaller lugs of the cat track could be compensated by the additional lenght.
Streching a bit might also help smooth out bumps as well. But again, maybe 128" vs 121" is not that huge difference in that respect either?

08RTX,
Thanks for the offer. I have more or less decided against extending the tunnel. Kind of made that desicion already when choosing the RTX instead of a MTX. Anyway, haven't seen the 136" freeride avaliable around here, maybe someone else is interested.

First IMO the stock track sucks! studded, or not.(tried both ways)Now that that's out, here we go.... I run the 128x1.375x13.5 unstudded on my phazer. My uncle runs the 121X1.5X14 freeride unstudded on his phazer. You can't loose either way you go. The 128 has a noticeable, although not earth shattering difference in the stutter bumps, and off trail. Traction is night and day over stock, no comparison. I like it alot. The freeride is also night and day from stock, and hooks up excellent in most conditions. The freeride is the more aggressive track, but the added footprint of the 128 makes the traction pretty even. Slight edge to the 128 for bumps, and flotation. 128 wins by a nose. We stayed at the same top end, off the line was better with the added traction. Gearing is stock. The freeride phazer has a hauck gyt-r done kit, and the 128 phazer has schmidt bros. clutch kit and pipe. Both are an absolute blast to ride. I think the phazer should have come with a 128 track from the factory. That being said I think the ultimate set up would probably be the 136 freeride as mentioned above. The flotation and aggressive traction would be awesome.... but you'd have to extend the tunnel for that, which you stated you didn't want to do. Good luck.McM said:Hi

Thanks for filling in your profile.
There are lots of Europeans on the web site including one Moderator.
I rode a Phazer with the Freeride 1.5" track. Traction was very good. On the trails, the guy riding the Phazer led most of time. In the group were two Apex's, one Attak, and one Blair Morgan 03 Rev. On the lakes, different story but the Phazer with the Freeride did very well on the trails.

Wow, what a response! Thanks!
I've decided to go with the 128".

McM - My buddy sneip1fmx stretched his 121" to 136" adding a 136x14x1.5 FreeRide track, it's a great track for any sled riding on and off trail. My buddy's Phazer are turboed by MCX, the FreeRide worked very well for him. We're up north in Lakselv, Finnmark.
