I started to take a closer look at my sled. Who designs these sleds? Every one better get a track lock. 4 screws and you can have the ignition switch out and have it hot wired and gone... Maybe a 2 min job. Quick disconect on an ignition switch... WTF on a sled that cost this much... #$%&*

Anyone know the wire colors for the kill switch? I am thinking of wiring in a hidden switch to that in hopes of stoping some one ripping my sled off.

My 05 f7 was stolen in Hurley Wisconsin while I was eating at the bar. They just loaded it into the back of a pickup and drove off.

I'm more concerned about people just coming by and taking the hoods and side panels. That seems like it would be pretty easy to do, and easy to sell on ebay.

That is what insurance is for...

YOu cant stop people from stealing stuff.. they just do....

At one time i lived in a bad part of the town... and had 4 stereos stollen in 4 years... I had an alarm but they checked the car every night... and eventually cought me on a night i forgot to put it on..

That's a great attitude to have until it happens and your whole weekend that you were dying to go out and have fun riding is ruined because someone took off with the most awesome looking snowmobile to date. Sure that is what you pay insurance for, but it would still suck to have it happen to you.

Almost every sled stolen on the trail is loaded up by hand and tossed into a trailer or the back of a pickup truck at a bar. If it's stolen at home then you must have left your trailer outside. That happened a lot in Wayne County about 2 years ago. People would wake up and the entire trailer was gone. Even the locked ones. They must have tied the ball to the hitch and got it down the road. When staying at a hotel/lodge, I usually lock the sleds together with a cable at night. It doesn't really prevent them from being stolen, but it makes them more difficult so the thieves will normally go for an easier target. Of course as previously suggested, just through a Polaris cover on top and it should be secure.

Well if that's the case, Yamaha has already figured out the best anti-theft - A 600lb sled!
