I sold my 07 RTX and purchased a 09 LTX GT, this should be a totally different expierence based on the track length and suspension, I'm hoping I made the right choice? I have received different feedback from people in regards to the difference in handling between the two, the majority say they would never go back to a 121". My riding style is groomed trails in the U.P., I never go off trail! The reason I decided to go with the LTX GT is that I wanted to improve the late Saturday riding with all the chop, I'm assuming that there will be an improvement over the RTX?

i put a 136 2 inch on my RTX and i love it. i do more mtn riding and deep snow then the trails though. i thought about going bigger but i love the track spin. on the trails it does not seem to be alot different then the 121. more traction off the line. i think you will be happy with the 136

Cobalt,
You certainly have made the the right choice. I went from a 121" to a 136" back in 04 with the warrior and will never again go back to a 121" sled. I do most of my riding in the UP and it heads and shoulders better than the short sled. Rides better, hooks up and accelerates harder with no loss in top end and tracks straighter. My riding partners that were die hard short track holdouts, are now also going to long tracks. Funny how things change once they get a ride on the long track and get some real trail time on one.

Thanks for the feedback, the one negative I had heard from a friend who had an Attack was that he felt it was difficult to corner on the tight twisties? Other than that I can't see anything that would be a negative?
Maybe I will go off trail now that I have a little more traction? I have always struggled with leaving any trail, at 46 years old I grew up in a time where people used to die a lot when they left the trail. The trail systems were minimal so the farm fields got a lot of action, unfortunately people didn't see the barbed wire until it was to late! The other thing is I always imagine a stump or boulder just under the snow line and I trash my sled. It is a fear I guess I can let go now LOL!!!

We run the 162" track in the mountains and on the hardpack to get to the mountains. Cornering at speed is easy, but when going slow you can forget about turning easily.
With the big tracks you need to lean into the corners and forward, and ride it like a motorcycle, and get the pressure on the inside ski during the twisties.
There's a special motion to this I only picked up on when I got the long track, I think if you can get this motion down you can ride any track length on trail easily.
IMO, the longer the track, the more it amplifies your mistakes, which makes it a challenge, which makes it fun.

Thanks for all the feedback!
Mud99 I used to live in Sacramento back in 1982 and we used to go through your neck of the woods as much as possible. It is one of the most incredible places I have ever been! I can only imagine what it would be like to ride out there! The snow depth would change by several feet in what seemed only a few miles on the interstate! The year I was out there they had a great winter, it was great for us Cheeseheads to have a place to go to see the snow.

I have an 06 GT that I lengthened to 136x1.5, and I have an 07 ER 121. All true about the extra traction, and high speed stability. My 136 handles quite well in the tight stuff as long as you "drive the sled". If you go slow it gets burdonsome at times in the 25mph stuff. If you slide up close to the front of the seat and delay your deceleration until your into the corner, then feather the brake, the sled works real good this way. I'm not saying you need to drive foolishly, just be proactive, and work the sled. I can make time through the woods as well on my 136 as my 121.
I too made the big change from my 03 viper to a Attak 136. I can't wait to take it for a ride on the trail and off.

136 is the best way to go for the U.P. for sure!

Sounds perfect for the UP. I am a die hard 121 fan only because of the tight trails in WI I like so much. If I just rode the UP I would be 136 or 144 for sure.

I went from 121 to 136 on my 03 RX-1 when going turbo for the added hookup. One thing is certain the 136 is 100% stable at high speeds where the 121 is shaking it's tail. I can ride the 136 pretty fast in the twisties but it takes a different approach than riding a 121, you need to use the brakes and throttle for steering, break hard and set up the sled for a slide then add enough throttle to keep it spinning and holding the slide then pin it on the exit. It would be much like driving a WRC rally car.
