Who's having a bad snowmobile season

I'll be honest. I've had three seasons in a row of very bad snowmobiling, 600miles or less.

But to justify the new Sidewinder I've had to chase it further. I'm not extremely happy. But I'll be over 2000miles this year when it's all said and done.

And this coming from Illinois. There's nothing easy about it.

Same here. Local riding in central NH has been hit or miss. Kicked off the year at New Years with good riding for two weekends then it poured and washed it away. Never recovered. Every big storm goes to rain. You have to travel up to Berlin and north to ride or up to Millinocket Maine. Haven't had great consistent riding in a few years unless you travel. The tough part is finding lodging as most stuff gets booked up before the season starts and Northern NH gets crowded on weekends when there is no snow south. Last Saturday we drove 3 hours north, rode for 8 hours and drove 3 hours back home. Long day but the riding was excellent. Another trip to Maine in a couple weeks but I'd say they will need likely need snow. To darn warm here now. Couple UPS guys had shorts on yesterday!

Have not been able to ride at my cabin for two years, having to trailer to the UP :o| So far rode 1000k miles but dealing with huge amounts of traffic, since no riding in the lower. Good trails in the morning and beat trails in the afternoon getting back to hotel:mad:. Then to top that off came to Brimley this week on vacation to ride, trails around here and the soo have not been groomed in days:dunno:. Then jackshaft bearing went out on my sons sled, 13k miles,:o| so went to head home yesterday and the Big Mac was closed due to falling ice:(. Bridge open today so will head home and tear his sled down. Hopefully back into Grand Marais the 10th for some more vacation riding.

Well those thoughts have crossed my mind to, but I just came to accept that here in Nova Scotia its hit or miss when it comes to snow, 2 years ago there was 3 - 4 ft on the level here, some areas had a hard time grooming with just to much snow, last year was a bit soggy but got 2-3 weeks of good sledding later in the season, I love snowmobiling there's just nothing else like it, but that's the evil when you are a strong supporter of the sport not all winters will be in your favor, but when you do get a awesome winter all is forgotten, I just came to accept that and stopped stressing myself out about it, hang in there bud.

I agree. Where I live I have always been able to ride, but some winters are just poor and you start to think maybe after 30 years (been riding since I was 10) it's time to just quit. Then you get hit with the best winter you've had in years and now I'm having a blast!

Glad to hear your getting some time out sledding, i'm hoping we will get some snow in March would be nice to put 2-3 hundred miles on this year before packing it in.

Our season is done with barely 100km this season. I was planning to trailer to North Bay to do the trails there and meet up with my sons but their trails also just closed. This is the second bad season in a row. A third strike and I'm out. I can't take this anymore.

Well I thought I would start this subject because I was wondering if any body else's snowmobile season has completely sucked!!! very little snow here in Nova Scotia Canada with unbelievable temp swings, just when you think the snow is starting to pile up at 20(-12c) degree's F the temp swings to 60(+12c ) degrees F in 8 hrs and rains all the snow away, Feb is our prime snowmobiling time, not this year, Apex 3 miles. :( :drink:
How far of a drive are you from Maine? Some good riding in the County.

I’m from Pa and that last time I rode in state was 2015. Since then it’s 9-12 hrs to different areas in Quebec. Once I’m in Quebec we saddlebag back and forth from Quebec and Fort Kent Maine.
Average 2k a year.
Unfortunately you have to travel to find REAL SNOW these days.
It’s actually easier that way then the countless road trips riding in sub par contions at best most of the years or not riding at all.

I have a cabin in Cadillac MI. It has been a pretty bad year and I think I am done since my wife has knee surgery on Monday. Only a few hundred miles for the year and we have worn out skis and carbide riding marginal conditions several time. Hope next year is better for sure.

It's still my most favorite thing though.:letsnow:

I’ll never stop riding!!!!!
Just have to understand that if you want to ride then find the SNOW!!!!!
Is what it is.

Maine, ... 10hrs maybe abit more, I would love to ride in Maine, some beautiful scenery their, northern NB is abit closer at around 6-7 hours i'm thinking maybe a trip there, hard to round up a crew to go though.

Finding the right people is key to planning big trips.
I look at it this way, once I’m out riding I want to ride as much as a can... 11. 14 days straight. One ride up, one ride back.
So use to it now that it’s how I Snowmobile these days.
