Why the Nytro always compared to bigger sleds?

As I understand it, the Nytro is classed as a 600cc sled. I fully understand the relation between higher CC four strokes to two strokes. On the net I see lots of comparisons of the Nytro to like 800cc two strokes.

Seems to me a proper comparison would be to a 600 shift, 600 rush and whatever else ski doo and cat have today.

I realize there are many variables when it comes to flat out racing. I have to ask. How does the Nytro compare to other 600cc sleds out there performance wise?

Any stories you have that includes some raw data would be appreciated. " Raced a 2010 Rush and spanked it running a 1/2 mile on a lakebed with 12" of fresh powder"

Just wondering what I dare challenge and what I leave alone.

Rode in about 18' of the fresh stuff yesterday for a bit. First time with it on decent snow. I like it but clearly a different animal from what I used to ride. (03 Viper).

Feels like the motor isnt broken in yet. Got less than 400 miles on it.

The Nytro is kind of the "caught between" sled. Nonethless, no 600's out there that it can't beat. As for 700's, I've raced F7's and trade wins. Usually get them out of the of hole but they creep by me after 1000' or so. I'm not sure the years of the F7's, but have always know the 03's to really rip. Now on to 800's, I've raced 08 and 09 cross fires and M8's and work both of them. However, had the opportunity to race cat's new 800 and man can that thing put out the ponies. It was like night and day. Would suggest that race, as I sure won't be trying it again. As for Doo's 800's I trade wins to 800' or so with my buddies 08 Summit XP (non E-Tec) but wouldn't hold a candle to the new 800 E-Tec's.
Don't know what else to tell you but ride it, love it, tweek it and do it all over again....gotta love this sport.

I just bought a 10 nytro xtx, which is just as fast as my 05 vector 121 if not faster. No experience yet on the nytro but as for the vector I can say that in my experience I have beat every 600 class sled I've ever been up against and a few 700 triples. Have not tried anything bigger than that....yet.

From 0-1000ft anything without a turbo will be a close match for the nytro. Anything over that it's comparable to a 600-700cc 2 stroke. I think that's why AM Snow uses the vector in the 600cc shootout instead of the nytro because it wouldn't be a fair match up

Prior to Turbo-ing my sled, no 600 or 700 beat me in 600 feet. My buddy bought a new 800 e-tec last year and I out holeshot him evertime to about 400 feet and he would pass me. About the same as my Apex, pretty even out of the hole, but not much can out leg the Apex. Because of that I installed a Turbo this year and looking forward to seeing the difference, especially on top-end...... :-o

Ya the magazines seem to compare the vector to the doo 1200, the cat four stroke, and never compare the nytro. If anything these comparisons should be in categories. A nytro rtx vs a doo x, and a cat sno pro. The vector against the daily driver models from the competition, but this never happens. Usually they compare yamah in the wrong category to make their favorite brand stand out better IMO

My buddy's 2011 Nitro XTX stays with my apex to about 100mph than I get ;)! over the top on him. We trade hole shots depending on conditions. Nitro is fast to 100 then tapers off but they are fun on low end and corner to corner for sure! He runs about the same against an 2010 800 cat snow pro. The Nitro XTX package is sweet and might be my next sled!

I believe I have just found another reason to ride yamaha four strokes. I have asked questions here several times and get nothing but honest and fair statements. I have yet to see anybody here intentionally dog another brand or overly stretch the truth. Seems yamaha four stroke people are a different breed entirely.

I can only imagine the responses if I would have posted this elsewhere.

Thanks for the posts.

Again I have to ask. Will my Nytro outrun a 600 shift/Rush?

How many miles before the engine is fully broken in and can expect the most performance out of it?

Maybe its there allready. Was riding in 18" of new snow the other day and it did allright but in no way felt as strong as my 98 xc 700. On the Polaris's behalf, it was well sorted with several years of tuning behind it. Running against my wifes 07 Phazer wasnt a kill worth mentioning. It was like comparing Dodge Viper to a Miata which leads me to believe my Nytro is running fine.

On the bold...if it doesn't smoke the Poo 600 your Nytro has issues. My 08 RTX with poor clutching ( only turning 8200 rpm ) all stock other than that, absolutly destyroyed a 2010 Rush. The Poo 600 is a good little motor, but stock for stock it's no match for a Nytro...just doesn't have the grunt from a dig or any descent top end.

X2 on smoking the poo 600. Your 98 XC 700 were a beast out of the box and with some light clutch tuning a real fast sled in it's day. They would always give my SRX a good run. Once about 1500 miles on your Nitro she should wake up some. Good luck ;)!

Dont baby it. Ride it hard. I'm sure you read that already but It can't be stressed enough

Breaking in a motor is like raising a puppy, it needs to know what you expect from it from day one. Just make sure it's warmed up good so it dosent poop on the carpet, I meen trail.
