I don't think it has anything to do with reliability of the drivers, I'm sure they're fine. We're mostly just comparing the possibility of a direct bolt-in track to the other option of changing drivers and adding rail extensions. For me, I'm just looking for a simpler route. And I'm really not interested in going to lugs that are 1.75 to 2.0 deep. But there's certainly nothing wrong with what you suggest for someone who was looking to go even more aggressive than I'm trying to.

Yes this track just goes right in ,no mods of any kind. The ripsaw is great on trails and not so great in off road conditions.I ride 99% off trail and this track pulls like a horse now.It is a DURO 80 type track so it has quite hard lugs and is very durable, also grips good on snow pack. Not much use having 150 horses you can't use!!

Thanks again, zipclean.
That sounds perfect. I have yet to actually find your part # for sale anywhere, however. I did find at www.tracksusa.com that they have the "Intense 9800c" track which is a 1.5 x 15 x 136 for sale for $429. That's even cheaper than the $440 they wanted for the 1.5 x 15 x 136 ripsaw, and looks far more aggressive and paddle-like than the ripsaw for our type of riding (I'm off trail usually as well). I'm not a ripsaw fan myself....I put one on a short-tracker about 2 years ago. Just like you said, it was good on packed trails but pretty much useless anywhere else. I can't imagine even an extra 1/4 inch would help much on that style track for powder....it just has fingers and no paddles to help compact the snow. It would just slice thru, I'm afraid. The Intense looks far better for me. I'd like to see what yours looks like, however.
If you can provide me a source for your track for a good price, I'm all ears.
Then I'll let this post die.....THANKS to everyone!

I am not sure where you can find one in the U.S. but Proline Yamaha Sports in Saskatoon, Sask. has one left for 450cnd. Call Camoplast and ask them. They came on the 1997 Cat powder extreme ( I think). Maybe check some Cat dealers. The big thing is they are notched out to alow for heat exchangers. Most suppliers tell you whether they are notched or not.Probably other tracks will work if they have notches.

Thanks....I got the impression it was an older Cat track based on my part number searches. I didn't see it on Camoplast's site either but I didn't call them. I'm thinking it may be discontinued. Regardless, I've notched tracks before....it takes about 15 minutes with a utility knife so that's not a big issue if I get the Intense I'm thinking of which doesn't appear to be notched.
You've been very helpful, much appreciated!
Enjoy the rest of winter!

notching is just cutting a row of lugs down to clear protect
So you could do the notch yourselfd and run the 16" wide track with 1.75" paddles , notch the ones that hit the heat exchanger protectors......another option I suppose.
