This will be my 4th season on the ZX2 and I love it. Its definitly the skid for me and I went through a lot of them (M10, poo edge, proactive, proaction, mono)
That said it would be hard for me to scrap up the cash for a new one dayummmm they got expensive!
I'll never go back though almost zero maintenance and 300 miles days in smooth or moguled out trails are NO issue on my back.
Highly reccomended if you got the coin dont worry about it letting you down its solid as a rock, save your stock suspension and keep taking the ZX2 with you when you trade sleds.

I look at it this way... look at all the effort Kinger has gone through with differnt skids, finding them , fitting , and set-up (I could see myself doing the same thing) and still having little problems that cause bigger ones and taking the fun out of our short season. When its all added up money wise, effort, time the ZX2 can still be even from a money standpoint well worth it. Yea it is pricey ..BUT look at your goal, to get it to ride right! I dont have enough time to tell ya all the patience and time and set-ups as well as broken parts that have been replaced in my 07 apex pro-action skid, some parts I have refabricated (pivot arms, front and back) with no failures so it was improved to some degree but still can't get the ride quality! It is buy far WAY better than it was with the stock calibration and certain stock parts. I'am really trying to talk myself into the cost of the ZX2 at this time and wish I would have bought one earlier, that all. Maybe they will have snow show deals come fall or I can find one used for sale?

I 100% agree Rich Kay!!! I too have spent 3 years messing with the ProActive CK skid and am on my 3rd set of rails, my second front suspension arm, two shock revalves, several broken bolts and who knows how many idler wheels!! All I want is a suspension that will hold up to my riding style and I won't have to worry about it!! One way or another I will be running a new skid this winter--weather it be a ZX2 or an Expert X I don't know which one yet!! Thanks for the perspective!!

Just pulled my ZX2 and I FINALLY have to repair a part, the shock bushings are worn so after 4000-5000 miles (cant remember lol) I have replaced two idler wheels, 1 set of hyfax (didn't need to just did), and this shock bushing oh yeah and had a bolt fall out the 2nd year (never happened again).
I have never greased it, never cleaned it, just rode the wee out of it.
I see the problems everyone has with proactive and monos and think it would really burn me out putting hundreds into getting it to work and then still be unhappy with the perforamance even when it holds together.
I'll never go back to a metal skid, this Zx2 will follow me from sled to sled.

Kinger, I know the ZX2 is good, but.......
My Mono went that long before I replaced my bushings with Pioneer kit for like $70, probably will never have to mess with again. I sent it to Welteracer just for preventive manitenance from beef up kit. He said i had no cracks -- now i never will! My idler wheels went that long before I installed billet ones just because. With scratchers I'm getting 2,500 ++ miles out of sliders easy. Maybe more like 4,000 miles. They usually have lots of meat left when i swap them out as preventive maintenance.
So, not trying to be negative here but, is the ride that much better than the Mono??? I've heard yes, it is really good on the ZX2. I believe it too. But the Mono can be really good too.
So, is it $1,000++ better than an upgrded Mono? With bjowett's and other upgrades to my upgrades (about $550 for shock upgrades, a few hundies for billet wheels, $250 for Beef Up), is it worth the difference? that is the $1,000 question.
No disrespect to Proaction CK owners (I believe the thread's founder had one of those), but I have ridden that skid and i feel that one prob is worth the upgrading to something better (Sorry!!), but Mono is salvageable if you can't swallow the $2,000 cost of the XZ2.
Man, I have come close to pulling the trigger on an Expert X, then a ZX2 tho, but the cost is really high.

That is a nice looking skid. If I were to stick with a metal skid the mono would get my money. I too believe it can be a good skid and its fairly light weight.
Performance on the other hand the Zx2 will spank the mono all day long in the rough stuff, even with a pimp ohlins and PDS I know it wont keep up. My mono was horrible but it was just a big boy spring on a stock shock, not the Jowett pimp version.
Even if the shock made it 100 times better it still wont transfer as good but keep the skis planted as good as the ZX2. The Zx2 is position sensitive so if you lean back on the seat behind the center line of the two shock set up, the revolver rotates and you get BIG transfer just like you want when you want, dont touch a thing on the skid and suck up tight to the tank in a 30 mph corner at 60mph and the ski stays planted and the traction is incredible.
Its a tough decison but from having both and experince on other skids I would say the ZX2 is the best thing I have ever been on, the mono well set up is probably #2 and to put a magnitude on it probably 70% as good as the ZX2.
For those who think I am biased...when I got my apex I REALLY wanted to keep the mono I like the adjustble EC shock, etc, and sell the Zx2 just to get my money back and put it towards the purchase of the apex, but after 500 miles I couldn't take the mono and I didn't want to put $700-1000 into when I had the Zx sitting there and I knew how good it was.

I agree, I had hygears trail pro package on mine. The shocks worked great, I just got sick of breaking wheels, bending rails and changing sliders. Plus now I don't even have to grease it. At first after i put in the zx2, i would put my sled in the garage and thaw it out after ever ride and look it over just to make sure nothing was broke. After 3 or 4 weeks of that, I hardly ever look at it (I know that's bad) but I haven't touched it once I got it set up to where I like it.

I just bought a m20 air for $1640.00 / shipped, i'm installing this weekend, hope it's much better than mono will let you know next year, so far looks impresive but didn't come with a pump. You would think that a top of the line air suspension would come with a $30 hand pump to adjust with, they said it was extra, same as a fox float pump. Time will tell.

should have bought on board air compressor so you can adjust on the fly. there is an aftermarket forum with info on the m20 on this site.

Well Boys I am done shopping!! I have a lightly used (900 miles) ZX2 sitting on my shed floor thanks to a fello TY member!!
Now I have a few questions---I don't have a manual or instructions for this skid and wondering if anyone might have one in a PDF form or other form. Also it came with a mount kit but its for a Apex GT and I have the 07 RTX. Can I make this mount kit work or do I need another mount kit?? Thanks guys!! Ohh and by the way I got this skid+mounts+shipping for $625

nice deal. make sure you check everything over using their parts diagram from their site just to make sure you have all parts needed. i have the paper version which i can scan and pdf for you if no one has one already. the second post here http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=101513 will tell you how to install the zx2 using the universal instructions but for the mount kits per ad boivin their mount kits are made depending on the single shock(mono) and the dual shock(ck) suspension. from that my understand is they would be different but you could always email them and find out exactly.

It is a different monunt kit but you can make it work, that is I what I did used my RX1 kit in my Apex. I just measured where it was located from the driveshaft and in the tunnel and it worked great.
That is the deal of the year and you will be a HAPPY HAPPY MAN
I saw the PDF's floating around somewhere
