Apex, Venture, and Vector go towards the oil tank. My ASSUMPTION on your Viper would be towards the clutch side because it is a Procross chassis like the Sidewinder. I KNOW I am correct on the Delta box sleds.
I have always had better luck putting viper on left side. Phazer better on right. This is in rolls where engine is running for a second or two. With engine off and only on side I bet it really doesn’t matter.

You Da Man. Page 21 of the SideWinder operators manual states, " lay the snowmobile on its LEFT side "Tip it on its left side. Can stay there more than long enough for me to get your shocks done

Engine wont crank on this new one with kill switch engaged.Maybe. Just let it sit upright and crank it over with kill switch engaged for a bit before starting.
Really! That’s interesting. I wonder if new Vipers is same?Engine wont crank on this new one with kill switch engaged.

It’s got to do with the push button start! Kills the whole system. It’s to bad because that’s how I warmed up my lithium battery when it was really cold.

remember some guys up north were having an issue in the cold because it wont let you hold the starter on like traditional yamaha. I take it the new ones have a feature like the newer vehicles where you can just touch the key and it scranks until it is started, but as we all know, especially in the cold they can stumble. It has always been a habit of mine to hold starter engaged until running and then listen for the wind down.Really! That’s interesting. I wonder if new Vipers is same?
Looked into it. 2019 on Winders and 9000's all have the kill switch killing everything including starter. All before you could still crank engine with kill engaged. They ARE becoming more like Japan Yamahas. To me thats good. Always suspected the old way was suspect in the Vipers starting troubles some had do to draw. Would be interesting to compare that. Thanks for pointing that out SwampCat!remember some guys up north were having an issue in the cold because it wont let you hold the starter on like traditional yamaha. They must be routing the starter through the ECU. Will have to look at some wiring diagrams.remember some guys up north were having an issue in the cold because it wont let you hold the starter on like traditional yamaha. I was working on my '18 winder and it would not crank with the kill switch hit either... In fact the whole dash would die like the key was turned off when I hit the kill switch

For 2020 anyway, the SAME button starts the sled, OR, puts it in reverse. So the sled KNOWS what is going on, and which function to do.They must be routing the starter through the ECU. Will have to look at some wiring diagrams.
Weird. Dash goes out but still should crank with key on a 18.I was working on my '18 winder and it would not crank with the kill switch hit either... In fact the whole dash would die like the key was turned off when I hit the kill switch

I guess I didn't actually try cranking only saw the dash went out. Still learning the new machine (I bought it this spring), technology has gone a long ways since my old 2 smoke sleds.
