Hey guys need some help. I'm ready to wire my Temp guage in and I'm wondering about the wires. Did a search and found some great info on every other question but this one. 5 wires, Green to temp sensor, Black to ground, simple enough. Red ACC ON and white for the guage light. Orange straight to battery. Not sure why I need to go straight to the battery, Can I simply put the red, white and orange wires to the same power wire on the sled that only comes on with the key. Simple guage that as far as I can tell doesn't need power all the time. Thanks for the help.

I don't know for sure as I haven't installed mine yet, but I think some of the guages have a memory feature. This would keep track of what the hottest temp. was that it has seen (I think). In any case if there is any kind of memory built into it, then you would need power to it at all times. Just like the direct lead to a car radio to keep the memory preset radio stations or the time.

Thanks for the help. That's what I thought too. The instructions say nothing about a memory feature. There is one button but it only changes the guage color. I think I'll just put the three power wires together and see what happens. Thanks.
PS All I need is for the guage to work while the sled is running.

Hey, how much is the temperature gauge and how did you install it? Send some pics if you get a chance.

Bought it at princess auto in Canada. On sale for $25.
Did a search " water and temp and guage "
Lots of reading and a few pics. Plan on installing below the t stat housing. Easist spot for me. Pics for wiring too. Great site. Since your in the states look at auto meter guages. http://www.autometer.com/
For me it was between guage #5737 and #5732. I was ready to order untill I saw the guage on sale up here. I bought the electric guages. Going to use a simple V shaped length of alum. and a pipe clamp for install of the guage. Paint it all black and you shouldn't see anything. Going just left of the tach. The sending unit is a 3/4 brass plumbing pipe from Home Depot. Picked up a 4 wire male/female plug so I can still pop off the headlight pod.
Here's the thread that starting it for me. Also plan on installing the oil pressure guage. Will start with the temp. guage and go from there. When I do my wiring I plan on doing both and then do the oil sensor the next time I change my oil as the oem guage is under the battery tray. Tricky part is hooking up your oil pressure sensor and keeping the oem sensor operating. If it doesn't your sled won't run. OEM sensor uses metric while the guages are imp. Need to figure that one out yet, but it has been done as the thread will show you. Good luck.
