99 wolvey 350. Starts and idols fine. Lots of spark. Pulled the carb and cleaned it out. As soon as you give it gas it won't rev. Back fires through carb and exhaust. Unplugged rev limter to see if that was was the problem too. No improvement. This thing has me stumped. Thought it was the carb being dirty. Could it be the coil or cdi? How do I check them? Any ideas on this thing?

sounds like cdi is bad or has a bad ground somewhere. know anyone around there with a 250-400cc atv around the same year? should be same cdi so you could test it with theirs and confirm it is bad. heck we are using a xt125cdi on a xt350. had to make the coupling but bike runs awsome.
