Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. My understanding direct from Yamaha was there was no Demos going on at any dealers..just display only.. so if they took these demos out, someone might be in trouble....

No one said they took them for a ride, the question was there was a lot of belt dust on that demo that was in his showroom, and did not even have carbides on either one of them,so don't worrie, them two at gary's never touched snow in maine, but they have been driven hard at the dealer demos on the airstrip,i believe maybe that same sled may have been one of them that was driven hard,at WO top speeds, back to back to back times for all the dealers there to test drive,at or up to about 120 mph gps verified,so we all know at that speed driven hard and over and over you will have some belt dust, but I would not be worried about these new clutches Yamaha has developed strictly for this kind of on off power this sidewinder is making,if you keep an eye on your clutches and belt ware like myself and many gear heads do,you will never have any problems, now if you are not willing to check some things over every now and than, than maybe this is not the ride for you! And of course I don't mean you Tom,but anyone in general who doughts yamahas quality control.I guess its their dealership to mess up not mine...LOL and if they cant follow directions from the guy that makes them who they are how do you trust buying from them.

I did not know that there was a protocol for show only on these SW!
Don't quite understand? In my region there is and has been no snow for demos, but in regions where there is, why not?
One would think it was OK but from what has been posted it is prohibited. Huh?

I was told that there was NO open to the public demo rides for SideWinders from Yamaha, period... due to sleds being very costly pre-production units and the liability for insurance reasons considering the units have 204 HP.

That is exactly what Brian told us at the demo. He is the Yamaha rep from Wisconsin who is an avid rider by the way. He would have loved to take the 2 SideWinders out but he needs his job.I was told that there was NO open to the public demo rides for SideWinders from Yamaha, period... due to sleds being very costly pre-production units and the liability for insurance reasons considering the units have 204 HP.

Not a rep, just the truck driver. I know Brian, he lives about 45 min from me.

I now understand. Did not mean to imply anything really. Was just hoping to hear some real life ( non dealer) trial of the new SW!!
I thought that the non snow was the reason for not having the yearly line try outs! Have been quite busy working and did not get a chance to attend the Spring Surge show in our area. Guess I need to get around more and not jump in the middle of discussions! Sorry if I confused, not my intention , just enjoying the knowledge and friendships found on this site!
