Check your exhaust bolts! I found one of my bolts missing. The doughnuts were in good shape but it could have ended bad for me if I had not found it.

Yeah, it weird for some reason Yamaha used stainless (or coated I can't remember) shouldered bolts on the Phazers, and only on the Phazers. My Apex and Nytro used non-coated, non-shouldered SHCS. This is how they may loosen up after the clamp expands a bit.

or if it gets mysteriously loud... mine broke clean off at the motor. dealer got it warantied. also my clamps were loose. Just a good thing to check at least every year when you do your oil change
