Hello,

I am new to this forum. I have found a lot of very helpful information so far. I do have one question. I have an 09 XTX with the 1.75" Backcountry track. 18/38 gearing and 6 - 8500' Clutching. Sled works well going down the trail, but is a total dog in the deep snow (loses a lot of RPM). I have read that taking the weight from the tip to the heel will help that quite a bit. I have also read that a 43-39 helix would help. My goal is to spend as little $$$ as possible. Is my money better spent with rivets and a helix, a clutch kit from Tom Hartman, or starting over with MTX components. Where do I find a 43-39 helix?

Thank You

That sounds like my set-up;-)
Moving the mass (rivit weight from the tip to the heel) will make the biggest difference. This is something that I discovered after I installed the Vector gauge and could see the tach better. To start with you'll want to keep the total mass the same, just move it towards the heel.
If it's under/over-reving then adjust the total mass from there, depending on if the under/over-rev is at slow or higher speeds.
The lighter tips will help the primary back-shift better. Also it helps reduce the under-rev at higher track speeds, which is caused by the increased load due to the taller track.
For the 43-39 helix Dalton makes them. I got mine from Ulmer racing.
