I really like the SE. I'm sure the standard is quite comparable. However, I specifically chose the SE to get away from the pain in the arse wrench set up when having to change the spring preload on the front shocks. Unless you have the "trick" quick adjuster from Pioneer, then you'll be busting knuckles and frankly, it easier to change the pressure on the front floats than it is to change the preload on a standard spring set-up.
As far as the rear, I really liked the quick adjustability of the tunnel dial on my Attak, however the reliability of the cable was quite suspect. Just ask on this forum. Also, I had mine freeze more than once which rendered it unusable until it warmed up. It's really not that big a deal to lift the back prior to a ride (or during for that matter) and make a quick adjustment in the air pressure.
I really don't have anything to complain about. It's a great trail machine and I've been able to push this much faster in the tight stuff than my previous 136.
If I had to do it over again, I'd still go with the SE over the coilovers. And I'd definitely steer clear of the XTX if you mainly ride groomed trails.
