im going to do the star suspension upgrade to my 12 xtx. Any tips on how to best get it back in? Leave the tension off on the torsion springs until the skid is bolted in? Anything to look for while I have it out?
Thanks
Thanks

leave the tension off the springs, check the front inner bogey wheels.

I just did the Star kit on my '11 XTX. It is pretty easy to do without taking the rear skid out. I did the kit and both shocks revalved/rebuilt from Star. Pretty straight forward with the directions and pictures that come with the kit.

I went ahead and pulled it out so I could give it a good going thru. How did you get the lower bolt out for the front shock?? I had to drill a hole thru the bogey wheel so I could slide the bolt out. you have to loosen all the bolts that go thru the rail on 1 side and then you can get the bogey wheel off and get shock bolt out.

i just pull the shaft with the wheels on it and pull the one wheel off on the bolt side on my 11 xtx.

How did you get it out? I could only get 1 of the front 2 mounting bolts that thread into the shaft out - then the shaft would just spin. I have had sleds with that setup in the past and usually just using the air impact will work, but it didn't for me on this. Plus the fact that I had to use a swivel to get to those bolts is a PITA (and maybe why the impact didn't work?).
I was going to remove to install my 4th wheel kit, but ended up getting that in with the suspension still in and only the 2 rear bolts out. Now I just have to get those back in, so open to tips on that too.

Reinstall the bolt that came out and loosen the one that wouldn't come off. Usually works

I tried that. I just loosened the same side even with the impact from the other side. At this point, I don't need it out anymore. If I have issues in the future, I think the side that come out will get some blue locktite to aid in holding to get the other side loose.Reinstall the bolt that came out and loosen the one that wouldn't come off. Usually works
So what's the trick to getting the rear skid bolts back in?

cleaned the threads on the bolts and then start both sides. I usually have someone on the other side tightening the same time as i do. Never had any problems taking them off or reinstall them, but then again i take the suspension out at the start of every season. I never put loctite on the threads because i don't want the problem you had and i've never had those suspension bolts come loose

I would typically clean the threads too, but again, couldn't get the other side out and quit trying as I got what I needed done without removing the skid. I would normally put locktite on either - that was a thought to help get the other side off. At this point, it will get addressed next year, as barring issues, I wont have a need to get the skid out again his year.

Mine is sagging again as well with only 766.3 miles since the install. Did you find a cure from Star?
