yamaha #2 in sales

Where are these dealers getting these #'s from? Must be written somewhere. Find out and post it. Scan it & post it.

I would have to agree - there is nothing in thier line up that makes you say "wow!" - and certainly nothing that would pull me from my Yamaha! - another thing that is going to stifle thier "first year sales" is all the problems they had with the first year Firecats - even if I rode Cats, I would wait a year to see how they pan out!

Well put QC.

It is great to see Yamaha come on so strong the last few years and increase their market share and the fun factor. Hopefully they continue to do so and possible move a little closer to #1, but it it very true that improvements are competition driven.

..."Loyalty is earned"....

You hit it right on the head! - we've had Yamaha's in our family for over 30 years - 20 plus sleds with NO major issues - I would say Yamaha has "earned" our loyalty - we've had some that we liked better than others, but none of them have ever let us down - if that is ignorant, than I'm guilty - I think it is sad that loyalty bothers you so much!

Loyalty = Riding/buying a sled whether it is #1 in sales, or #4. If you like it, and it suits your needs, buy it. Who cares what anybody else rides?

Umm can someone actually answer my question? :D

Thx

LOL! I don't think anyone's seen any kind of official numbers yet, but it would be nice to get to see the figures in print, wouldn't it? Sales rank would not make the difference to me, but I'm also very curious.

I've been an avid snowmobiler for years and I have to be totally honest and I also have to agree with QC (not always the case) that I have never seen more instances of rear skid failures until I switched to Yamaha and started reading posts here. Your sort of have to know something ain't right when aftermarket vendors start selling beefed up W-arms.

But in the end your find problems at every camp. It goes in cycles.

The Canadian numbers show DOO with half the sales and the other three in a virtual tie with less than a percentage point separating second from fourth.

I know that when I was talking to the marketing guys mid to late march last year, they said they were on track to be at 16.5-18% market share. But the wild card was that the other 3 manufacturers had a bunch of 05 sleds unsold.
Probably have to wait until it is published in one of the magazines.

I really don't doubt that they will overtake Doo. The whole four stroke thing is still very much in it's infancy. There are still so many people who have not ridden them and only know what they have read online. That they are heavy. I have never heard someone get off of one and say that it felt heavy. Remember, I only ride trails, I'm sure Mountain riders would have a different perspective here. They also were told they were slow. I have also never heard someone getting off of either an RX-1 or an Apex say that it was slow or underpowered. As long as they continue to improve the breed and stay one step ahead in the four stroke game they will eventually become the market leader.
