Hi guys, I need some help. I want to put a Yamaha 2, 3, or 4 cylinder 4-stroke snowmobile motor in my Yamaha golf cart. I live in Florida and finding information is pretty difficult down here.
I have learned on-line that the 2 cylinder 4 stroke just came out or is coming out this year, so that's out of the picture. However, the 3 cylinder has been out since 2005 in the Vector and Rage models, and in the Venture and Nytro in 2006. The 4 cylinder has been out since 2003.
Here is what I need. It's a couple of measurements from both of the 3 and 4 cylinder engines to see if either of these two motors would fit in the tight space of my golf cart. I specifically need to know how wide the motor is from the furthest point away from the front clutch, to the inner part of the front clutch. I also need to know how wide it is, and how tall too. This info would really help me out a lot.
Also, which way do they rotate when you look at them from the clutch side, i.e. clockwise or counter-clockwise? If these will fit I will be looking for one of these motors complete with wiring, turn key or blown up but rebuildable (hopefully the 3 cylinder because it should be smaller).
Thanks for your help.

First, welcome to the best Yamaha site on the internet. Second, I re-wrote your post so that it was not in all capital letters. When you post in all capital letters, people think you are SHOUTING at them and you're unlikely to get a response.
There are definately some guys on the site that can answer your questions. I suspect LazyBastard or SRXTwins will know. It is summer time and things are slow, so give it a bit of time for a response.
What I can tell you is that you are the fourth person on the site that is looking to purchase a motor.

I can check the measurements on my 4, but the soonest I can get the measurements is by TUESDAY, that is, IF I go up north tonight (which I don't know yet). Otherwise, it'll be by NEXT Sunday.
As for the rotation though, looking straight at the clutch, it rotates COUNTER-clockwise.

Hey, dude.
I've got an 06 Nytro with the 973 cc 3cyl., and I did my best to get some measurements for you. These are fairly rough, as it's quite difficult to get firm numbers with the engine still in the chassis, but here goes anyway:
Width: 18.875" (this does NOT include the oil reservoir, brake assembly, or coolant bottle, but the way these are situated in this chassis adds approximately 8").
Height: approx. 18.5" (this measurement is almost useless, as the only way to measure height with the engine in the chassis is to measure straight up from the floor of the engine compartment, and the engine sits at quite an angle).
These engines turn counter-clockwise when viewed from the clutch side.
I hope this is somewhat useful, but hopefully someone that has access to a free-standing block can get accurate numbers for you.
Best of luck to you.

1st It will fit!
2nd welcome!
3rd the 4 stroke motor is not twice the size of the stock motor. The cart has plenty of room. You will have to custom build a mount. Relocate a few things, but it will go.
Do you realize how fast that will be?? Cus we just put a 340 c.c. 2-stroke in one and it flewwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Sorry, it was rainy today, so I didn't go up north. I'll check those measurements on the weekend and post them on Sunday night.

LOL maybe a ECP kit and clutch kit just for a little extra boost, then again why not a turbo This sure sounds like a fun project but put seatbelts in that thing and wear a helmet Have fun and let us know how it goes the 660 Rhino tweaked is a blast i can only imagine that thing with an RX1 motor or maybe even an 06 with FI

Invest in a cage. That thing doesnt even have a top. Should be able to fabricate a loop or something that would look good.
Hate to see someone get hurt.
We rolled one with a top and it calapsed very easy. Doesnt keep you from rolling completely over either.
Also, the gulf course doesnt want our cart on the course anymore cus it dont take much to spin the tires....
Yes...
(saw your post in other sites....your right no responces there!)
Something to think about, you can buy a '03 rx1 for about $3200, take the needed parts out and part out the rest for $2000.00 Making your motor purchase $1200.00.

Im getting a top for it in a couple of days, i'm even going to put seat belts on it, because down here in Florida you can make them street legal. So far I think i'am going to put a 3 cylinder in it if I find one. Does any one Know around what these motors sell for $$$ ? Whats a good snowmobile magazine to buy, and that shows alot of engine stuff in it? Thanks
