Wow, my dealer must want me to buy someone else's oil. They sell there Yamaha 4-stroke synthetic blend now for $8.99 a quart, up from $7.99 last year, $6.49 the year before! (Must be trying to make up from not selling injection oil.)
Looks like a switch next time around for full synthetic!! Hello Amsoil.

I have voiced my opinion on this before. If you ever have the misfortune of a motor problem Yamaha will probably not touch it with a 10' pole. They have done good will thing's in the past with these four stroke motor's that are out of waranty. For the few buck's a year that you spend on oil i would stick with Yamaha oil and filter. kviper
I just bought 8 qts mobil 1 0w-30 from O'reiles for $47,the FILTERS from Yamaha cost me $33.What a hose job. Jay

Oil related failures are a thing of the distant past. Plus, Yamaha can not deny a claim if you use another brand oil. If it is out of warranty and you try to get a "goodwill" repair they aren't going to know what brand oil you were using.kviper said:I have voiced my opinion on this before. Your dealer...
Has anyone's dealer raised their price on 0-30 oil by a $1/qt. each year?
What are you paying in the U.S. for the 4-stroke oil?
Just curious.

I just paid $41.68 (including 6% sales tax) for 3 quarts of Yamalube 0W30 and a Yamaha filter at the local dealer.

Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic...use it in everything. Around 22 bucks for a 5 quart jug in Wal Mart. Unless they are lying, read the back..they exceed Corvette, Ferrari, etc requirements, so I'm sure it's good enough for the Yammies..
Plus a good friend worked for Castrol before Exxon/Mobil lured him away and he explained how oil is made (once on a visit) and why synthetics do what they do... as he is a scientist and actually was 'inventing' (perfecting, more accurate) new diesel fuels at the time. In his umpteenth year of education (Doctor..whatever the title is...lol) he was analyzing moon rocks...so I guess I'll take his word that the oil is ok for my sleds....hehe.
I don't think it gets cold enough in upstate NY that the 5w will be noticeably worse than the 0w.
Been working great for the last 5 years of Yammie 4 bangers.

I've always used amsoil in everything, 2-stroke and four, never had any problem. Amsoils is far superior to mobil 1, as well as anything else IMO. check out their web site www.amsoil.com
