Yamaha changed the capacity?

The tank takes 10 gal if you burp it. While up in the Gaspe last year I was with 2- 2016 1200 Renegades and a 2015 NON turbo 1100 Cat and my SW was as good or better than all of them. We weren't racing but we were riding groomed trails between 50 and 75 mph most of the time. After reading about the SW here on TY I was worried about range with my SW so I bought a 4 gal Linq can and installed it on my Wife's 1200. Well 1300 miles later I never opened the linq can until the trip was over then I put it in my truck for the drive home. All I did was carry 4 gal of fuel for 6 days because I was worried about nothing. Riding the SW at normal trail speeds will result in some pretty decent mileage. The last time I had a sled that I worried about range was my wife's 2008 Nytro and that dumb azz 7.5 gal tank. Even then we never ran out of fuel.

Great post Joe....

I find that everyone I know who runs a fuel caddy on back, never ends up needing it most the time..lol

Sorta funny when you think about hauling that around the entire trip..lol

i have used mine but i do do some loops where there is no gas avilible until i get home, i might only carry 1.5 gallons but it is 1.5 gallons i do not have to walk!

I like having 10 gallons in sled. It makes the math easier since my hands are too cold to make my I-phone calculator work.
