Went to local Yamaha dealer yesterday to buy some ring free and they gave me RX med as it replaced the ring free product. Anyone else using this product. Reviews look pretty good online. Wow this stuff is pricey but hope it is worth it. I have used marine fuel stable almost all the time and star tron regularly, since I have to travel to Maine to ride and only do so 1 or twice a month. This is not a stabilizer but a fuel treatment so I will continue to use marine stable. Do you guys use the med rx stabilizer too? Is it better than the marine stable? it is twice the $ of the Marine stable I use?
Thanks Blue

I add a bit with every tank of gas. I can't say that I can tell any difference but I haven't had any problems either.
Yeah its pricey ,$22 Engine Med
with my discount but i can get over 1000mi in my sled from 1 bottle per directions. use it in everything i own---throughout the year everything gets a dose> toyz, chainsaws, weedwhips, blowers, mowers etc etc.the little engines fire right up all the time stay running and run great from idle to wide open.the Fuel Med i leave at home.i dont notice any performance feeling from the seat of my pants, but i can tell you the internal engine is deposit free ! i believe that you have to add all the time or you wont notice.

Not having problems is hard to notice unless you have had problems in the past without it. LOL! I also use it in all of my small engines and have had no fuel related issues.
Some guys will buy a product put it in and say -it didnt do Spit ! use it once in a tank of fuel pay $2.99 for it and thats that.whatever it is ,imo needs to be in a fuel system or engine for at least 5 tanks, to attack the dirty and start to soften and clean.what i do notice is how much carbon my buddys apex engine had when i checked a while back.he didnt use any sort of product! it ran good, but with mine next to his you can tell the difference in how smoooth it is.it fires up better ,idles and runs along.he thinks he can tell,
but he only owns 1 snowmobile and a snowblower....he uses the stuff now.

Thanks Guys! Sounds like it is worth it and I will use it in every apex tank from now on. Dumped some in the snow blower, lawn tractor, My Ram and wifes jeep.

I buy the ring free Yamaha product that comes in a 12oz bottle for 18$ at my local dealer. It says its a 1oz per 10 gal maintanace treatment that will do everything the the fuel med and engine med products will do. Take a minute and read the back of the bottle and you will see its the same stuff as fuel med and engine med just in a concentrated form. I carry some in my sled and add at every fuel stop and have noticed a smoother idle and a bit more carbon deposit lining the exhuast tips which means its doing some cleaning....so ?? With all the fuel questions out there and down time a sled has during the off season Iam sticking with it.

I have recently heard from a Yamaha mechanic that was having issues with an older high mileage Apex's running quality. Said it idled rough, kept dying....etc.. He did a treatment of the Med RX (yeh says it's same as Ring Free) then he let it sit for 24+ hours and the next time he started it a bunch of black carbon crud came out of the exhaust and it now runs like a champ. Now I have been mentioning this on TY for a few years that I have had this same kind of success with a product called Neutra Fuel Stabilizer by Schaeffer Oil Company. http://www.schaefferoil.com/neutra-fuel-stabilizer.html
I am no chemist but I have used the Ring Free in the past, the weird thing is my nose says the Yamaha product and the Schaeffer product are the same. They sure smell identical.

Well it sounds like Ring Free has the same ingredients as Med RX except the latter has some corrosion inhibitors also in it.

We haven't tried this on sleds but we do a similar process quite often to 4 stroke outboards with high hours on them. Works quite well for removing carbon build up. Make that you change your oil after this process, it will be quite dark.

The reason yamaha came out with ring free was back in around 1992-93 when they had those 30 hp 3 cyl outboards . The camps really liked those motors but trolling all day an couple weeks later big problems an ey found out about how bad the carbon build up was an killing those motors plus with gas being crap so they came out with ring free after we noticed no more problems. Great stuff.
I run both products > same bottle .can be confusing to some behind the counter when you purchase.almost $20 price difference around here.great stuff and run it in everything i own.i wish yamaha sold them in gallons..!

I put one small bottle of Med RX in my Attak last week when I was riding in Michigan that I bought from Pat's. They had the little bottles on the counter for $2.50 each for one tank of fuel. I poured a bottle in after a refuel. I figured my sled has 13,000 miles and it wouldn't hurt. I did notice mine was idling sort of rough when I first got up there. I have read the other threads too about rust accumulating on the heads and valves when the machines sit over the summer. Anyways after riding it for about 50 miles or so I noticed it would shoot some dark colored exhaust fumes after restarting the machine. Also it idled way smoother like a sewing machine.
I am thinking of buying a couple of the larger bottles and using one for my Toyota Highlander that has 172,000 miles on it. I think it would work good in that too to remove some carbon and crud build up in the motor. Bad thing is the Michigan trip may be the only ride the Attak sees this season being we have been basically snow less in most of the mid west all winter. I'd like to run more through that too, like a few tanks in a row.
