Looking to put a set of OEM 8FK mountain ski's on a viper. I have all the part numbers ect.... My question is if the spacers fit over the spindle collar (meaning its a longer spindle collar, the length of the saddle) or just fit over the bolt and sandwich the spindle collar (meaning the spindle collar is the same length as the spindle and the spacers take up the rest but are on the bolt itself). I have some material i can use as spacers but not sure how it all fits together. I havent ordered mounting hardware yet. Those spacers are $9.97 a piece PT #90387-16013-00. Thats almost as much as im paying for ski's. Any help would be great. Thanks chris

You'll need the spacers, either stock or install some alternative. The spacers are there so you can alter your ski width for hill climbing or boon docking, all depends where you put the spacers.

Both spacers on outside, narrow stance. Both spacers on inside, wide stance. A spacer on each side (stock) is medium stance. That why those skis were designed that way, where you do need to have Spacers in there.

Is there 2 different width spacers on your machine? On know on my 09' MTX one spacer is about 1/4" shorter than the other on both sides so I have 4 different width settings. Out, Middle out, Middle In, and In.

You may be right blueironranger, I'm just not sure about.

I'm not running the MTX skis anymore on my Apex. They were great skis tho. The MTX skis I had came off a Phazer MTX from my neighbor and he kept his hardware. I then ordered Apex MTX ski hardware off the Fiche and it all bolted on well. If my memory serves me tho, I think the spacers were the same all around, but I can't remember, sorry.

Super1c: I'd go to the fiche and look up a 2005-2006 Mountain Viper and order up the ski hardware. Those sleds came stock with the MTX skis and would have the correct spacers for fitament with your trailing arm suspension, just to be safe. Just my humble opinion. I cringe at Yamaha's part prices too, lol!

there are 2 different length spacers. i run the longer one on the outside for my XTX.

Thanks for all the help guys! Let ya know how it turns out. Gonna run 6" bergstrom tripple points and 1/4 ski savers with shims. The skis i thought i had i didnt work out so ill see if i can get them with the hardware included. Anyone got a set of them laying around??? Loops not needed would like hardware. Chris

You will like that Combo, that's exactly what I run on my MTX skis.
