HowdyDoo !!!

Yamaha Tric ice scratchers, I heard that Yamaha redesigned them a little bit. Does any one know about this ??
I have a set that I bought last year and they are sitting here next to my desk. Is there a new model or product # for them ??
What I heard is that the mounting piece was too soft (kinda like a battery post) and Yamaha made it stronger. So now I'm not sure if I have the
old style or the new. The model or product # of the one I have is : SMA-ICESC-01-ST Under it is also : AD097
Any help would be appreciated !!!

Thanks,
Tommy J.

TRIC® Ice Scratchers

Innovative scratcher kit provides additional snow spray in hard-packed icy conditions to help reduce rear suspension hyfax wear and engine overheating. Creates a steady stream of ice crystals to provide both lubrication for the rear skid-frame and additional cooling to the heat exchangers on liquid-cooled machines. Features stainless steel cables and adapters which can be rotated to allow for left or right applications. This flexible cable allows the operation of the reverse gear when the scratcher is engaged. Uses common 1/4" threaded replaceable carbide stud (included). Also includes stainless steel hardware with universal mounting brackets which allow for an infinite range of cable angles to facilitate mounting on various locations and models. Sold as a pair.

I had heard of an update/change but never did hear exactly what it was?

Hi Irv !!
Yes, I heard the same thing. They say the change was sometime mid season last year. I got my Tric scratchers around the same time but never installed them.
I'm down here in Minnesota. Please , would someone ask a dealership up there in Canada for me. Or if someone could get me an 800 number so I could call them. Whatever you could do, I would appreciate it.
They don't seem to be sold down here in the states.

Thanks, Tommy J.

Not sure if this will come up correctly for you but if not, go to www.yamaha-motor.ca go to sleds then accessories and over on your left see you will see a dealer locator, type in your location or what ever and it should give the closest one to you?
Good Luck.....Irv

Wondering if there is a "Left" and "Right" to these. The ones I have seem to have the business end (Stud) angled slightly to one side. Nothing mentioned about this in the instructions. I'm guessing the stud should be on the side, where it is angled out... any thoughts on this???

Not really sure I understand what you are saying but my guess is when the pair of them are mounted, you would want them to form a "V" so to speak?

How come guys are buying them but not mounting them? Need feedback.

I got mine as an offer from Yamaha Canada last winter to evaluate as a new product. By the time they were actually sent to me, it was late in the season, and thus never installed. I've also since traded-in my RX1, and now have a new Apex. Now I plan to try these out.

Do they always hang or can you hook them up when condition warrent so?

They always hang, that's the main reason I am not too excited about them.

Like what has been mentioned in earlier posts, if your travelling down or have to cross the odd gravel/dirt road, guess where all that grit is going? :o|

I heard they beat the hell out of the back of your skis when you're turning. The carbide jumps up on the back of the ski and digs in. Good way to punish those Yammy skis that everyone hates.
