ZX2 Guys

I'm going to do a suspension swap this fall and am trying to decide between a ZX2 and a ProX.

ahicks has been very helpful and I think the ProX might actually be easier than the ZX2, not only cheaper.

Ad Boivin has a special going until July 15th. Basically you get the mounting kit for free. So if I decide ZX2, it would be wise to do so before then.

My question concerns tunnel protector clearance. I have 1/4" of hyfax riveted to my tunnel protectors to keep my studs from hitting the Bender charge tube running up the right side of the tunnel.

From past posts concerning the ZX2, it appears that I won't be able to clear the tunnel protectors with the stock ripsaw, and this hyfax added to my tunnel protectors.

Your running a 121" I run the cobra track with 1.45 studs and it clears just fine in the 121"

When you extend it may hit the rear muffler support and ulmer had a picture of how he removed a inch to add clearance.

I can't imagine the ProX install being easier than the ZX2. The ZX2 install was a snap.

There is no measuring involved. Just drilling and riveting. The way that AD Boivin has the mount kit designed you just bolt it to the tunnel using the existing front holes and then drill out the tunnel using the holes in the mount kit as a guide. Super easy.

I removed my tunnel protectors though because I am running a 1.5" track.

Thanks guys; my main concern was because my tunnel protectors are 1/4" closer to the track than stock.

I thought I may have to go to a 1" track. But if Kinger can get a Cobra to clear the stock tunnel protectors, I should be ok with the 1.25 Ripsaw.

Also there was an earlier post where one person was able to lower the rear of the ZX2 mounting plate about and 1/8" and still get the bolts in the rear mounting holes.

Next season I'd like to go 136, then I'll be ready for a new track, and just possibly go 1" predator or its replacement.

You can see how low the charge tube is. It's about at the middle of the stock tunnel protector.

Just got the ZX2 from the UPS man today. I won't get to start installing it until early September, but thinking snow.

Its such a fun skid, nothing like the confidence to hit what ever you want as hard as you want and know its going to be fun.

How is the ZX2 for weight transfer, efficiency and track ratchet, Is it as good as the Expert X? kviper

I have never rode a expert X.

Weight transfer on my 121 cobra with 144 studs with boost on a hard pack trail I can get about 6" of ski lift on the setting I use it on all the time and on the max transfer it will darn near flip over back wards, and you cant power out of a turn.

I have anti ratchet drivers and never had a issue with ratcheting.

The 8" rear wheels help with efficiency, I noticed a slight mph gain with the ZX2.

Thanks for the response! Sounds like you like it. Is it as plush in the stutter's as the Mono and is it better for slide wear? I am thinking the approach angle is better and that would give the track a bit more wrap on the driver's and make it more efficient also. Did you weigh it and compare it to the Mono? Also they did not have a price on there web site, Do you know what they list for US? Thanks again. kviper

kviper: Price is $1499 US, Plus shipping. Mounting kit is $150.00. They had a summer special that you get the mounting kit for free.

I posted that it was good until July 15th, but it may be longer than that.

Wow that's not bad, The expert is on there site at about 2 grand. I have cash coming, May need to give this some serious thought.

It weighed in at 52lbs, the mono weighs slightly more or at least the one I have because of the large ohlins EC shock.

Stutter bumps not as good as mono, I have 2500 miles on my slides and they are still good but I'll replace anyway just because I'm never sure what I'll be running in for conditions.

I give it at 9/10 and does everything so much better then any other suspension I have been on. If a revalve would give me a titch better performance in the stutter bumps the skid would get a 10/10.

On a new skid be prepared for a 'break in" yeah I didn't belive it either but after 300 miles the skid got much softer and stayed that way.

Stupidty just cost me an additional $82.80 for this plastic fantastic.

Just got the bill from UPS for duties and brokerage charges. I thought there was only fees on UPS going into Canada.

Called AD Boivin and suggested they inform any USA customers of these charges. Stated they never thought about it, because they are used to this.

I never got that charge when i ordered mine? Just showed up after I paid AD bolvin. I'm in Iowa

Maybe the laws changed from when I got mine 3 years ago.
