I put the new "updated" springs in this summer from Boivin with the nylon collars. Preload set at 1 and revolver pins at 2 and 4. Front shocks are Ohlins clicker with preload set so collars just touch spring when suspended and clickers set in middle.
The sled will not turn without lifting the inside ski to the MOON! It is unridable! Can anyone offer me some suggestions as to pre-load and revolver pins settings? I trail ride aggressively sometimes and sometimes I putt putt with my soon to be 3 year old. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am thinking about putting the pre-load back to 4 or 5 as something jogs my memory from last year that you actually have to add pre-load more than you would think based on conventional suspension set ups which I completely forgot about. I would like to have the sled rail the corners and provide minimum to modest ski lift when going over hills or when it is needed to carry the skis over a washout etc.
Thanks,
Shane

Move the pin from #4 to #5. This helped in my case. Do you still have the owners manual?

Yes I do Grimm. Thanks! Should I bump up pre-load on springs to 4 or 5 again? I am 230 lbs without riding gear. Thanks again for jumping right in to help! I remember I had gotten the skid to handle pretty well last year but forgot what settings I had! I know I know...should have written them down. I am a DUMB-ARSE!
P.S. Wasn't there something about revolver positions 1 and 2 being backwards in the manual?

I am in 1/4 on the revolver, sounds like your preload is too weak I would go up gradually and see if it helps. 2/4 on the revolver would do what your saying so I think its the preload.
Never recall anything about being backwards.

Thanks Kinger. Do you mean that 2/4 will cause ski lift or provide the handling/ride I am looking for? Sorry for being confused.

1/4 is better for keeping the skis DOWN. Up the preload.

Thank you Kinger for all of your help and fast replies! I went back and re-read the ZX2 Performance Log thread and realized how much I had forgotten about setting this skid up. After replacing the springs I forgot what needed to be done to get it right. As always, the folks here on TY have come through again!
I do have one question that I recall we discussed last year but cannot remember the concensus. What track tension is appropriate when in a heated garage? Just barely touching the hyfax? i typically run my tracks as loose as possible without ratcheting and I believe this skid requires the same to prevent "binding" up of the suspension. Am I correct? Or, am I dreaming again?
Thanks as always!

Remember the skid shrinks in the cold.
In my 70 degree shop I left about a 1/2" hang from the hyfax, in the 14 degree weather it hangs about 1.25". Perfect for me. Too loose is not a good thing with this skid.
No 'binding' that I can think off.

How was the ride? how was the rebound compared to the old springs?

Stain,
Trails were smooth as glass so I was not able to tell. I will report back as soon as I have had the chance to put a few miles on the sled in some bumps.
