Thank you Tony!!! Yes, 134mph on stock 21/41 gearing is incredible! It's all in the clutching to make it work ;) The Pro Stock 1000 best was an 8.49 @ 155mph last year and will be working on getting that down to 8.20's

Asphalt Results 2020 (The year of the Virus)

Racing has been put on hold due to the Governors and the Virus playing havoc on the whole system. That hasn't stopped me from getting ready and having the Sidewinder ready to go. Just finished up the switchover for the Sidewinder and working on the 1000 Pro Stock. 2 sleds pretty much ready to...

    Thermostat Removal VS Modification.

I have been racing Yamaha 4 strokes since they came out in 2003. RX1's, Apex's, Nytro's, Viper and now Winders. If you plan on driving the sled up to the lanes and driving back to the pits, I recommend modifying the thermostat. Take the thermostat out, cut the 2 pieces that hold the spring and...

Clutch engages on higher throttle. Normal?

Check with Thunder Products Clutching as a post was just started with an Apex clutch that was having high engagement problems about 4,000-4,500 miles. The clutch was extremely dirty, the belt residue and debris from trail riding built up in the pockets of the clutch and twisted the plastic...

3,000 miles and still on the original drive axle, here's my .02

With all these drive axles wearing the bearing diameter down, I saw right from the get go from when the Vipers came out, was on a members sled that I worked on and saw what needs to be done. This members sled was worn down .030" and needed to be replaced. These drive axles do not fit...

    Water pump failure

Here is mine. Just spins on shaft, little polishing on housing where it touched, but spins free like it's on a bearing. Of course it is not going to flow water this way.

    Water pump failure

Just an FYI, took me 2 hours to change the whole water pump myself in a small space in my garage. If the spar bracket wouldn't have to be removed...it would have been 15 minutes. Here is a good tip, I had the sled tipped up towards the right with the handlebar on a milk crate. Lost about a...

    Blowing belts

Depends on your setups...but there's nothing wrong with the Gates belts. I, along with many others run the Gates belt and put many many miles, full seasons of asphalt racing, along with some off trail. Offset is majorly important and will kill any belt if not set correctly.
