Water pump failure

Just an FYI, took me 2 hours to change the whole water pump myself in a small space in my garage. If the spar bracket wouldn't have to be removed...it would have been 15 minutes.

Here is a good tip, I had the sled tipped up towards the right with the handlebar on a milk crate. Lost about a quart of anti-freeze.....that was it.

Was new one a different part# Terry?

There is another company who makes just the impeller also for half that price.

Anyone have any pictures of the winder impeller? I pulled a nytro pump apart and just curious if it is the same. Impeller is molded onto shaft on Nytro. No way to remove impeller from shaft.

I am thankful for knock protection and limp mode.

This past weekend I was riding and started to get my knock protection going off with good fuel, didn't know why. Boost looked good.
I noticed a film on my left side of tunnel below the clutches. Looked around and didn't see any thing leaking.

Went out for a ride the next day and sled went into limp mode and temp was up and amber light on on the dash.
Pulled hood off and found antifreeze everywhere.

Sled was towed in.

Coolant system was pressure tested and coolant was coming out the weep hole on water pump.
When waterpump was removed the impeller had broke in half.

So my impeller had started to come apart gradually and the seal started to weep out antifreeze causing my knock protection to go off and save my engine from blowing up while temp gauge was reading normal.
Then when The impeller broke and temps shot up my limp mode kicked in and saved my engine.

Knock protection and limp mode saved my engine.

I didn't post this to complain, I posted with my experience so others know what to look for.

If this was a viper or nytro with a add on turbo I would be looking at burnt pistons and block.
