We have actually started to hear that a lot are using it fine at 3-3.
originally it seems most tuned ones were using 6-1 and that may be the case for some. Recently I've been hearing that people have been using 3-3 as a starting point and tuned the weights to it and like it.
6-1 on this...
actually, ...dont do that.
It is a mistaken concept to go by "how high does it sit in the secondary". it is a ok hillbilly reference, but thats all, a quick reference....it is not setting belt deflection.
...in fact it WOULD be a accurate reference if all belts and center distance were...
You are welcome.
tuning info needs to be specific to have good data to test from so that is the reason we did it.
Secondary spring is like helix..."whats the best one"...loaded question. There are a LOT of variables in all of that stuff. ...boost...type of tune...gearing...track...different...
It has the strongest forces of those compared, but I'm not sure what constitutes a monster really, I'm just listing the pressures required to do the test. Maybe different uses or settings for different springs or applications...whatever.
Just tested the TPI orange secondary spring for those who have asked. We seem to be asked to compare this spring and it seems to be based from comments on this site. There seems to be a lot of speculation as to the pressure and torsion comparisons two aftermarket springs, and comparisons to the...
sure thing.
Actually a customer had sent one of the orange ones here the other day, I just havent had time to finish testing it. I will and let you know since we seem to be getting emails with the same question
sorry. For helixes on the drivepower.ca ordering site, we usually reference the Dalton site to get the current list of angles available...then you just type in the YSR 33/35, etc in the box.
I think when those helixes first came out the limited list ( at the time) was published there)
it is...
Shagman,
for sure.
Options are a good thing. I know how forums can go and be interpreted, I probably should have known better than to come in here, lol.
I was only here to try to make public some things that we get asked by phone and email daily to help answer a few questions about our products...
Hey yes, I understand that. all good.
I'll get one of those TPI when I can and get the results. Torsion value and compression loads are different things and have effect on each other. I'm sure it will be good tuning info for some who may use both. Our CNC shop runs 12 hrs per day 7 days...so I...
given a spring is the same length and diameter and wire...
...more coils = weaker.
less coils = stronger.
I have never seen a TPI orange secondary spring, but if it is as some are saying less coils....less coils means stronger torsion...more coils is softer torsion...more coils spreads the load...
Monster?...how much torsion ?...have you compared any of it compared to stock or others?
I have no problem with any of the springs out there, and I like Lonn, and his spring probably works fine. I've certainly never said any different. There is no need to try to discredit anything and get all...
With the Dalton DPSS-YBO ( black /orange), it is mostly used at 60 or 70 degrees. ...on reflashed sidewinders it seems more common to run 6-1.
...however some claim they run it at 3-3 and adjust flyweights accordingly for what they do...that is more often stockers using QAY66 and stock gearing...
I have not seen or used one of the TPI orange secondary spring to know but I hear of it and some seem to use it with good success, it may work with some experimenting for your application. There could be other factors involved as well possibly.
Our Black orange secondary spring is getting good...
yes, it is a note that some do no consider for sure.
A heavy hitter or early stm ( I think) are more aggressive curve and run less weight, stock type curve is very flat and runs heavier weight. It all has effect on which helix may work best with that ( and all the rest of components considered...
Hi Guys.
Thought I'd post a bit of info here since the sidewinder and the way it gets set up is relatively new and a lot of new testing ongoing.
We get a lot of questions about helixes
Sometimes we are mistaken for a clutch kit company, and some are not as familiar with what we do here, so we...
You bet Dan, seems like it never ends with requests for new angle options. I know it is a relatively new clutch, but I honestly thought that would slow down by now. The list grows.
Engagement on this sled can vary a LOT when you consider the different flyweights available....different profiles and placement of mass.
Dalton weights are untucked a fair amount at the point of belt contact, and load the belt a lot at engagement, and therefore some find they are a bit lower...
