I had this same problem. Do you think moving the oil seperator from directly above the hot exhaust over to the colder clutch side could be the isue ? Vipers with the seperator in the stock location do not have this problem.

The pipe coming from the oil separator that is now just laying out by the coolant cap ( on the hurricane set up ) is crazy. This is going to leak oil no mater what it's a breather tube, and if your oil separator fails like mine did its going to dump oil. I can't believe huricane left this pipe...

My 15 sounded bad from day one and gone at just over 500 mi, the 14 sounded about the same. I got the reflash done around 900 mi and starter gone at just over 1100 mi. I always let the pump cycle before trying to start, maybe now I'll try the quick start method.

Wow just got a call from my dealer. I dropped my wife's 14 ltx with 1000 mi on it for the revers not working and a blown front shock, when they went to fire it up to bring it in the shop it BLEW ALL THE TEETH off the starter. So now i have 2 sleds side by side with the motors out. Thanks Yamaha...
