You were spot on with your guess. I am amazed it went over 500 miles with no leak. I admit it was my fault for the double gasket, but who was the engineer who designed the filter that would make that a real possibility???
It lost most of the oil in 30 seconds. Seems awful fast for a cap. Just keeping my fingers crossed it's an easy fix as we just got to Idaho and now I will have to rent.
We were riding today in Idaho and one of the XTX's suddenly and rapidly dumped oil everywhere. Got it shut down almost immediatly as the yellow check gauges warning lamp illuminated. No damage to the underside of the belly as near as I can see. Towed it out 22 miles to a Yamaha dealership...
I've purchased from Larson's in Cambridge. Been very happy with both sales and service departments. Best prices I've found on the north side of Minneapolis area.
Without knowing anything about your GPS, check the owners manual and see if there is a way to set it up so that it auto switches to battery power when 12 volt DC is not available. I did this on my Garmin GPS. It switches power sources without me having to touch a thing while riding.
Plugs are relatively easy to change. How about finding non oxygenated gas (no ethanol) not only for the riding season, but especially for the off season with storage in mind. I am a strong advocate of sea foam as well.
I've ridden the Snowies and had a blast. Only down fall is that you start at 9000 feet and go up from there. The last two years, I've ridden in Island Park, Idaho. Its just minutes from West Yellowstone. You can ride and do Two Top and the mountains just outside of West Yellowstone, or you...
I bought them from K.J. Motorsports. I run the 6 inch Bergstrom triples, 3/8 ski savers (Bergstrom) and shim the front. Used them on my Attak, and now on my XTX's. I think the shims in the front make it steer a bit easier as I have one XTX with and one without shims. Off trail is a non...
I do, and have the unit set up to go back to the battery as a backup when the 12 volt D.C. is turned off. This unit can save and show multiple tracks. I found a very helpful tool in this unit too. It allows me to walk the perimeter of an area (food plots for hunting), and then calculate the...
I have a Garmin ETREX Legend HCX. I also loaded the Mapsource CD's onto the micro sd card. I use it while driving my truck, as well as boondocking with my toys. Having used many different brands of GPS's, I would have to say that the Garmin units are by far the most user friendly. Especially...
I ordered them from cyclepartswarehouse.com for I believe $45.00 each plus shipping. The bad part is that Yamaha has them on backorder. They are the factory part, so it plugs right in to the harness. I did a bit of research on them, and found that the part number is the same on an 06 Attak as...
I would go for the BackCountry. That was the first thing I changed on my XTX. I can't believe that the stock track would hook up like the BackCountry while off trail. I have no problems lifting and holding the skis in the air while in knee deep powder. I have the transfer set near the middle.
I have the Slydog rubbers with the Powderhounds, Ski savers (3/8") and Bergstrom Triples. I did not adjust toe in or out. One XTX has no shims while my other has shims under the front of the rubber. Can't say as of yet that the shims make any noticeable difference.
I got a chance to ride the XTX's last week. One has the shims and one does not. Other than that, they are identical. I can't say that I really noticed any difference between shims and no shims. The snow was fairly wet and was starting to set up due to cooler weather. I did like that it went...
I have one XTX with 3/8" shims and one without the shims. I could not tell any difference between the two. Keep in mind that we rode on a fairly wet snow that was starting to set up. The trails were typical, but ocasionally wet and or slushy. Off trail made no difference with the shims...
I just got my first ride on the XTX. I had plenty of flotation with the powderhounds. They steered easy, and it went where I pointed it. I used the slydog rubber mounts as the stock ones were very loose. The bergstrom triples were outstanding as usual.
I had Slydog Powderhounds with Bergstrom Triples, shims, and ski savers on my Attak, and my wife had the stock ski's on her Phazer. She said that she would rather ride on the Attak than her Phazer because it steered easier and went wherever she pointed it. Keep in mind that the Attak is about...
