Just in the middle of replacing my drive shaft and putting in the BOP bearing with set screws.
On the old shaft - I noticed the groove where the inner snap ring fits on the shaft - was quite sloppy.
Compared to a new shaft mine was over 0.5mm wider (which is huge).
Has anyone else seen this...
Hi all,
I have never installed the drivers on a drive shaft before.
Can anyone share any tips and tricks for installing stock extrovert drivers on a SW drive shaft.
I have a 30 t shop press.
Any special plates required or pipe to push with
Thanks

I would like to hear from anyone that has installed an inline coolant heater on a SW. This is a topic that there is very little info on. Some have installed heating pads on the lower block and oil tank.
The only coolant line that seems to be accessible is the lower line by the oil filter that...
What's the most weight you guys have put on the back of a 129?
I have friends that run the 15 L linq can on a 137 with no issues. That can+fuel is 32 lbs.
Could a 129 hold that weight? without causing tunnel damage. (assume normal riding and not ditch banging)
Planning a trip next season with...
Have a question to those that have 129 SWs and if they store Linq fuel cans on the back of the sled. Did you do any reinforcing to the tunnel?
My dealer quoted that the back of the tunnel is rated for only 20lbs (or something close to that). A 15 litre Linq stackable can with a bag on top would...
Was in northern Quebec last week at Lac Fallion wihich is 115km east of Seneterre. Ran into a group coming from Clova towing a new ‘23 900r. Jackshaft sheared right off, just behind the secondary. Break was so clean it was like someone cut it with a hacksaw. I didn’t realize BRP makes their...
What is the secret to get your plugs out?
I have the side of the sled open and can’t even get the first boot off. Before I break something thought I better seek help.
Is there some trick. Please don’t tell me the gas tank has to come out…..
I have read posts how to get the a arm separated from the spindle, but are the lower a-arm ball joints not meant to be removed and pressed in?
I know if the upper a-arm ball joint needs replacing, a new a arm must be purchased - what about the lower?
I have the sled apart on the stand without...
Picked up this code that last two mornings on start up - a very cold start up.
Sled fired no problem, and threw this code until it had fully ewarmed up, then went away. Did it again this am.
Have read the manual.
Does anyone have experience with this?
I have looked but cant find info on where...
I noticed the underside of my oil tank is a little slick. Didn’t see it when it was apart this past summer but i ran the engine two weeks ago and it seems to be wet now - no drips on the floor (yet)
So here is the question- what have others experienced- should I keep an eye on it over the...
Has anyone attempted to create an aftermarket antonymous oil tank for a sidewinder?
Had to upgrade my nytro with one after the stock tank broke. I figured someone would have created one by now

I have a chaincase that appears to have about a drip per week.
For those that have had these sleds what’s the opinion- will it worsen in operation or stay status quo.
Looks like changing that seal should pretty much be standard operating procedure on these sleds every year.
Ps- it’s not the...
Looking for guys that modified the plastic 'hook' in the suspension - where the arm of the torsion spring rides. Cutting out the top making it easier to take the spring on/off - similar to a Nytro.
Have you had any issues of the spring popping out of place or does it stay put?
Thanks

How is everyone making out with their stock decals.
I have frayed edges on the tunnel decals and some on the lower cowls are lifting as well.
What can you do to stop this?
I am scared to know what new ones cost from Yamaha.

Anyone have ideas how to hold the drive shaft from turning when tightening the BOP wedge.
Up until now, I have always had the brake assembled and used the brake to hold it. Obviously if the brake is assembled it denies you the ability to check the tightness of bearing on the shaft.
The old...
i noticed these gas tanks create pressure while running. When you unscrew the cap you can always hear the pressure release. Figured vent line was blocked, vapour lock or something.
I put pressure on the gas tank by blowing into it and thought the air would immediately be released out the vent...
Planned to take caliper assembly off drive shaft yesterday and nearly didn’t get the rotar off.
The rotar could move so it wasn’t seized. But it would not slide off.
With a lot of screwing around I worked it off. What had happened was the rotor must have pressured the snap ring creating a lip...
Had the caliber assembly off to repack the bearing.
After reassembling and tightening the 3 bolts of the caliper i noticed the shaft could move side to side (lateral movement) about 1 mm. Even with the rotar installed with the circlip - the shaft would still slide back and forth. I have not...
I have not had this apart yet and needed some direction.
When you have the new bearing pressed on the 'clutch side jack shaft', and go to slide it across into the chaincase. What are guys using as a bearing driver to place the new bearing in the housing?
There are videos of this for 800's and...
Interested in what people are using for a carbide:
Those with shaper bars, were you able to adjust the heavy steering out of the handling? or does it always steer heavy on the front? Would a round bar soften it up or leave you wanting grip?
I have experience with:
-slim jims with 6" carbide...
