I had this problem with my 06 Attak when new. Seemed like everytime I rode there was a handful of clips missing. After the first riding season, I reclipped the entire track and have not had problems since. My opinioin.....I believe camoplast had group of track that were not crimped tightly...
I have an 06 Attak that I blew the axle bearing out at the end of riding season last year. I replaced the bearing and ran the sled on stand and speedometer worked last Spring...so I figured the speed sensor was OK. Pulled sled out of storage this winter and first trip around the house the...
Sled looks great...much better than last year! Love the powdercoated A-arms, they really turned out SWEET!!!! Make sure she's ready for the first UP flurry....
You can also buy the replacement Yamaha wheels from their accessories catalog. They have removeable bearings...don't ask me why they decided not use them in their production sleds.

I have a 1974 Yamaha TW433 that has the hydraulic drive unit. It has a high / low shift and cogged timing belt. This machine is no speed demon and I am not sure how well it would hold together at high speeds.....I think they only offered that drive system for 2 years so it must...
I use the 2 piece vice type with the threaded rod and crimp them as tight as I can with a 1/2" drive ratchet by hand. I have wondered if Yammi had a some tracks that were not crimped tight enough from camoplast...but some have swapped tracks and have had the same issue, which leads to more of a...
mdkuni-
Had the same problem for the last 2 years with intermittent track clips coming off and/or guides busting off. I reclipped the entire track with camoplast clips w/o the guide. No problems since. My Observations:
1)It is not marginal snow conditions
2)Clips are not wearing thin
3)...
I have had the same problem with track clips on my '06 Attak. Bolting the caps solid did help some, but did not completely eliminate the problem. I re-clipped my entire track with new clips and crimped them as tight as I could. Haven't lost any since....my opinion is that Yammi had some...
If you get the LTX setup right for you.....you won't be disappointed. I call it the ultimate groomed trail sled. However, it is definitely not a mogul master.
In the FAQ post for replacing the exhaust donuts, there is a pretty good step-by-step for taking the shrouds, seat, & gas tank off. The linkage you need to adjust is wide open with the tank off...I just went through this to fix my donuts and adjusted the steering at the same time. It also...
I wished I would have posted here first to see if anyone had a takeoff Y-pipe before I laid down the money....My riding style is similar not excessive high speed runs and all groomed trail riding.
I don't know about replacing every season, but I agree that these need to be periodically inspected to prevent major damage. It's just a shame that you have to pull so much of the sled apart to even look at them.
Put me down as another victim of the exhaust donut / y-pipe issue. Last winter sled starting backfiring on last ride of the year. Finally got around to tearing it apart this week and found both donuts on the left side completely gone and a quarter size hole in the Y-pipe. Thanks to Port...
I know I have posted on this topic in the past...
I have an '06 Attak that lost a handful of clips everytime I rode. My wife's sled has similar track (camoplast 1" lug, clipped every third window) but on a Polaris. Sleds rode the same conditions. Polaris track clips are like new...
I would not recommend using a channel locks...I was there last year and you cannot crimp them tight enough. Maybe contact a local dealer and see if you can borrow / rent one.
Last year my '06 Attak lost a handful of clips everytime I went out. It didn't seem to matter what the snow conditions were. I tried everything: Bolting the caps solid, sucking up the limiter strap, track loose, track tight. I was very frustrated....This year I cut off all remaining clips...
I bought the tool out of JR Graham that is shown in the yellow case and has the wide and narrow attachment. The descriptio says good for up to 1" lug tracks, but it worked OK on my 1.25" ripsaw (It just squishes the last 1/4" of the lug).
In the past, I have slit the old clips with a die...
If you get the "vise" like tool, you can replace the clips without doing anything to the track or suspension. There is enough room just ahead of the rear idler wheels to slide half the tool in from underneath. If you get the "pliers" type tool, you will probably need to drop the skid out as...
