TY 4 Stroke Master
Just got back from the U.P.. I love my Attak. But My buddies 02' SRX can Run Down, catch, pass, and just plain beat my Attak. I am seeing 10 to 10,500 on the Tach and as promised my Attak feels like a RX-1 on steroids. I need some time to make heads or tails of this. I am just wondering if my 1 1/2" ripsaw might be to blame?

I would think i does hurt at least some,but what speeds are you seeing on the dreameter or do you have gps,if you are able to run 115-117 gps and he can still do this to you,than he has got one evil srx..Superman said:

Don't feel bad about losing to an SRX until something else stock beats it. The 1/4 time for the 2001 srx has not been beat to date from any box stock sled. The srx is just flat out fast (it was made for that purpose), you would kill him on a logging road or a rough trail!Superman said:

I don't think it would matter what track you put on the sled (maybe 1 or 2 mph) and what you gain on top you would lose out of the hole. If you want to beat it you'll have to start with the mod's (more $) and for what IMO.
Its a great sled, If we would get some SNOW I could justify spending the money for one.

My 03 RX-1 with HH, ECP, 192 1.175 gold diggers and digitally synched carbs and custom Helix and secondary would smoke my 2001 SRX that I sold to my buddy. I could get him from the whole shot he'd come on strong up till about 70mph then it was bye bye time. This happened time and time again across the lakes running from Elliot Lake to Spanish in Ontario if anyone knows the run and ya know what..........I had a broken bogie wheel in the back!!!!

What else do you have done to your Attack, besides the track. The track is probably hurting the top end a little. Did your buddy see how fast the SRX read on the speedo.Superman said:

What if anything has been done to the srx? He didn't put a big bore kit in it or something to that extent??

Is your sled Clutched? What type of snow conditions were you running in? Deep Snow or on a hard pack trail. Deep snow will kill your performace big time.
If you haven't clutched your sled yet. Call Allen at Ulmer racing. His setup is give you 6 to 10 sleds over stock.
One more thing in 2003 when i bought my RX-1 I had just come off the SRX. I had a fried with a good running srx and would out run my RX-1 by about 6 lenghts in 500 feet with the stock clutching.
After I clutched it I could beat him by about 6 lenghts. That is a 100% true story. He went out the next weeka nd bought an RX-1.

That 1.5 track is going to kill your top end...
I bet it wont go over 100mph ..
I bet you are killing the srx on the low end though...
Srx's are very fast sleds... that are low to the ground and dont ride very good at all..

Like I said, you will need mods to beat a stock srx IMO. Not sure if you will need them on the Apex or Apex GT yet, I hope not as I can see one in my future.Blue Me said:

There are too many previous owners on this site that will vouch that the srx isn't the king of the Yamaha fleet anymore unless it's modded way more than the 4-stroke.billjd said:

WOW!.... Where to start? Slush, Yea I changed it to the New 1 1/2" Ripsaw.
Mighty- I found the SRX brand new last year in Iowa and my buddy bought it. The sled is (I'm almost certain) Stock except he also has a 1 1/2" track on it. (9800 or 9803)
Welter- The trail 8 intersection @ H58 I saw 108 (speedo) on hard packed trail on my Attak.
Like I said before I really think my Attak rips. It was just surprising as hell to see the SRX pass me. twice we dragged from a stop. First time I jumped the start and had about a 4 sled lead and by the time my speedo read 95 he was coming around me. Second race I thought we both pulled good hole shots and it really wasn't close.
