Ok im new to this site in the yamaha 4 strokes. in im guessing its like a bike or car, some times when i go to start the sled it just clicks in if i keep turning the key in stop in turn in stop in turn after doing that for about 5 mins on in off it will start. im thinking it might be the solenoid but if anyone knows anything else i would very much appreciate it. thanks.

So probably just replace the relay in if that don't work then just try the starter? cuz there is probably no way to test them is there? when it doesn't start in just makes the clicking noise when i hold on to the + and - jumper wires that stick out the side of the air box i can feel the clicking in the weirs that would be the relay wouldn't it? cuz if it was the starter it probably wouldn't do anything or would it? Thanks!!

If you are turning the key and it is clicking then I would say that your starter is toast or there is not enough juice to turn it over.

Maybe try giving the sled a jump start to see if it turns over. If it turns over good then maybe the battery is weak. I'm not sure if you want to boost it off a car battery though. You don't want to fry your battery. I have a 75 amp boost on my battery charger. Also maybe put the charger on it for a while to make sure its fully charged. If your weather in Maine is like ours in Vt its cold as hell and maybe the battery is weak. If you want to be sure about the battery you can also get it tested. If your battery is good then the starter might be the problem, but I would make sure you have a good battery before you do very much to it.

it only seems to do it for the first start of the day but after that it seems fin starts right up every time in i can feel the clicking in the jumper cables that stick out from under the air bock witch i think there connected to the relay right or is the starter right there to? the batt is good cuz after about 5 mins of turning the key in it clicking it just starts with no problem or no slow bogging like it doesn't have a hard time starting wen it clicks on in i hooked my tester up to it in its a good batt. the relay is only $9 on ebay i guess i can try that were its not that much but if that dont work then ill try the starter. thanks guys for the info.

Also unplug the ignition switch and see if it corroded... I have seen that before too.

ok ill look should i buy the relay switch off ebay? its only 9$ didnt know if it be smart or not?

you think it would be ok or you think it wouldnt be smart to buy a cheap part?

Go for it.

I agree that all the things mentioned above need to be checked. I actually am suspecting moisture in the starter if the solenoid does not fix it.

That's what i was starting to get at to from reading all the things iv found on here cuz its only the first time starting it in the day an any time after that it starts just fine. so i wounder if its like stuck in when i keep turning the key it well brake free in turn over cuz it clicks pretty good in loud.

he means that he seconds my advice.
