I'm in the same boat. My 04 Warrior has just under 9K on it. No problems but time for a track and at least a skid overhaul.

Everytime I get fired up about replacing the sled it rains and I think how pissed I would be with a $9K sled setting on the trailer.

I'm not a high speed rider so reliablity and GAS milage are high on my list. Been thinking about a Phazer GT but that may be to much of a drop on power.

Thanks for the link. I can get $5100 for mine and it's paid for. If I have to put $3k in it, I am at $8100. I can get a new sled for just under $9k because they are unloading them now. I am more of a trail rider also but very disappointing when you hop on the old girl and 600's are beating you.

it is over reving for shure. on the ty trip i saw 115mph on my 05 with ulmers clutching. as i am a trail rider top speed is not a major concern to me but i know i was under reving a little. only saw 10,300 rpm on the tac at the time.

i would say throw ulmers stage 3 clutch kit at it and price a 05 rx1/warrior seat. i bought a 03 one on ebay for $120.00 because my 05 was too tall for me. was makeing me hate my sled. it is almost 4" taller than the 03 seat i have on there now.

but the clutching might be all you need as you are over reving now and hitting the rev limiter.

the only thing i lost too was a souped up polaris 800.... something is wrong with the sled! good luck with your decission! a new sled is always enticing! if i had the cash i'd buy one!

I'm going through the same thing with my Warrior; it's was feeling outdated to me but decided to do some updates instead of the trade in route.
The motor is not slow so something has got to be wrong with yours; they run with all the big iron.
I don't see a problem with the 136 PA skid mine has been flawless from day one I don't see that as a wise investment.
I'm putting on a 06 Nytro seat, 3" pivot riser a mountain cable and Fox Floats for $1100 US.
I'll ride it for two more years.
With that said if you have a fish on the line for $5100 for an 04 set the hook fast before he wakes up!

19000k on my 2004 RX1Warrior. Up too 160k and still had more in it.
Added ZX2 . faster than 2008 Vector or 2008 Nitro
Put 800k on weekend. Ran perfectly.

LET US ASSUME I KEEP IT, mainly because I am NOT rolling in dough.

What is the cheapest route I could take to get a better rear suspension? I will go with the theory it is not running right and have it checked out. Skip the seat for now, I want to focus on the rear suspension. I don't want to dump $1500 to $2000 into it. Is there a way?

Thanks
John

I have a edge for sale for $450 plus shipping, its more cause the shocks are already re-valved for RX1 weight and I'm including the mounting plates. Its a 121" though so you would need extensions from tracksusa.com

Hardcoresledder forums have rear skids lurking around. Ski doo Sc3+, Cat ZR skid and the edge are all great skids that have been mounted in the rear of a rx based sled.

To get by cheap it wont be handed to you, you will have to search around and find a good deal then have some the tech advisors on here help you get it in and troubleshoot it.

Well, assuming everything you just mentioned, what are you looking to get out of the skid? If you are looking for more top speed then I don't think the skid is where you should spend your $$$. Guys correct me if I'm wrong! I don't clain to be ANY kind of expert!!! I would look at clutching and maybe an ECP set up?? If you are looking for better traction, acceleration and drag racing results then playing with the transfer is really your first step with a factory skid, no? :dunno:

From what I've read on here Expert X is a top speed, drag race kinda set up. Also good for abnging the bumps. M10 has been described as 'slow' from those in the know.

Myself, I struggle with the update issue EVERY TIME I ride my sled. Could it be better, what if I had this and what if I had that... drives me (and my buddies) nuts!!! But what I can say for sure is, I've updated my PA skid with Ohlins and quick adjust transfer rods and it is a much better skid now. Playing with adjustments can make or brake a sled. It's kind of a pain to dial a sled in because most of us want to ride when we hit the trails! Getting the set up right can make you love your Warrior all over again! ;)!

If you can get a 136"mono off a attack it is a great improvement over the stock suspension. I put one on my warrior and it was a great improvement. The installation wasnt as bad as I thought either. The nice thing is that you can still get some money for the stock suspension to compensate for the money put into the new one. Another thing to remember is that if you go with a aftermarket suspension you can also keep your old suspension and transfer the aftermarket to another sled down the line, by putting the old suspension on the old sled before you sell it.

I had 2 points but let's skip the speed problem. I want better rear suspension. Mine is garbage. I want to do it affordably, if I can't, I wantrd to think about selling it. The wife doesn't like the latter.

You shouldn't need the Mountain cable with a FWD pivot - BTDT.

I agree, boneman, $5,100 - Dump it quick!

4Fighter The MT cable is an insurance policy; the season is short enough I don't want any down time once the seat and riser get here. I may also want to go higher I have 1" and 2" blocks to add.

Ill sell you my ohlins for $550 shipped. They are great shocks. Maxdlx
