I have an '05 Rage with a composite roller secondary from Pioneer Performance. I was looking at putting an Ulmer Stage II or III kit on my primary this year. I am wondering if anyone out there is running a simmilar setup with a roller secondary and what weights, springs, helix ect.... you used on the primary?

I am kind of a rookie when it comes to clutching, just know the basics and would like to not have to do a lot of testing.

Thanks-

At this time I can say Ulmer Racing has not worked with a roller secondary on a Vector/Rage/Nytro model. We did try a roller secondary on a Apex last season and didn't not see any gains over a simple clutch kit using the Yamaha primary and secondary.

I am not really looking for any extra gains. The roller secondary alone worked out great. Quicker backshifts and definetly smoother all the way through the power band.

I have just seen from your website and from other posts on here how much people like the stage III kit. I just don't want to mess up what I have. I see the stage III kit includes the secondary spring and I am wondering if I need it or not since the secondary kit came with a new spring.

Like I said I am a novice at the clutching thing and I am just looking for some more information.

Maybe with the roller secondary I would be better off going with the stage II kit?

Was also wondering if having the roller secondary would change what weights and helix angle you would send in the stage III kit compared to a stock Rage?

Also, one thing to note I am not a racer I do not need to get every last little hp out of it, just want some performance gains. ;)!

The helix in our kits would not work in your roller secondary nor would the secondary spring as well. I'm sure the weights would need to be re-adjusted also. If you are not a tuner I would recommend staying with what you have. Trying to adapt any of our kits to a roller secondary will require some testing and tuning.

(I know this thread is a couple of months old but here is my 2 cents....)

Have you done the swap or upgrade, Which way did you decide?
What Results did get or is it untested?

If you have don nothing another suggestion is to call pioneer performance.
They might have primary setup that would work well the the secondary roller kit to give you that extra UMPH???

Sorry Jason, but I am keeping the roller secondary from Pioneer. I was basically looking for some more information on the Ulmer kit at that time. I have talked to Bruce at Pioneer about a primary kit from him as well.
