06 apex questions hand warmers

heat

The handwarmer solution is to get a set of 05 bars, and use the harness for the 06 bars. Rocker Dan discovered this, and deserves a lot of praise.

I hope I have the years right. You can find it in a search.

gun nut is close - get 07 wiring harness on your stock 06 bars and it basically re wires them to parallel and they will get hot.

For noise check out a baffle that would slide inside teh exhaust outlets and that should help a lot.

My 07 Attak hand warmers were WAY too hot on high when I got the sled last month. Yesterday 60 miles from the cabin I nearly got frostbite. I had them down to two bars when I parked the sled the night before and they were working great!

I was on a 75 mile rail bed trail much like the day before so riding conditions were very similar. Is there something I should check before dropping large coin on Yamaheaters?

Was there a recal or something on the handwarmers. I read RockerDans post about using the 06 bars with the 07 harnes on an 06 apex for warm hands but from reading it, it sounds like yamaha had a recall on the 06 bars and gave everyone 07 bars and harnesses.. Is that the case???

I have owned the sled for a month. I have to assume 07 harness and 07 handlebars is what I have. Why would it work one day and lousy the next while driving the same trails at a steady pace?

If the ECU controls the grips, why can't there be a memory flash to cure the way the computer controls the grips instead of a $250 plug and play "fix"?

I have the 06 and we got an updated set from Yamaha that provides heat all the way to the end of the bar. At that time I think we only had to pay for either the install or the part of roughly $40.

Since quite a bit of time has passed you may be on your own. I don't know if Yamaha ever acknowledged it as a "recall" but it should have been.
