Was riding today -20C with 4" fresh powder on thin base. First 40kms went flawless (except my goggles frosting over, but thats another topic). Then i notice a real bad stumble/sputter when going over half throttle, seemed to only do it when i stabbed the throttle over half. Went a few more kms it still happened, so i kept it under half. Stopped at the warm up shack checked all fluids, electrical connections, belt, clutches, chain tension, everything looked good. Started riding again after about 1/2hour in the cabin. Stabbed the throttle a couple of times and didnt notice anything, but i kept it under half throttle just incase for the next 10 or so kms, then it started again, this time even under half throttle. Got back to the truck as it was only a coupe of kms away, still stumbled at the truck when i goosed it. Took my helmet off let the sled idle for about 2 minutes jumped back on and it ran like a top for 10 pulls across the parking lot.

Is it posible it was starting to freeze up and starving for fuel, then when it sits it thaws out and runs fine for awhile, i'm not sure it will freeze as i thought it had heated carbs. I will not have time to look at it for a day or so, just wanted to get some ideas on where to start looking.

this is a 06 RS Nytro with 1800kms

it might be your TORS acting up. My buddy rides a sx viper and when we were running through the 12" of fluff today his would go off intermittently. turns out this throttle lever was packed full of ice and snow and was setting off the TORS. all he had to do was turn it off and back on again and away it went. Just a thought. Good Luck

i had no snow build up under the hood, but i too thought to start with TORS, i will adjust my cable (if out of spec) then go for a rip to see if it acts up again....i hate trying to figure something out when it only happens intermittently

i adjusted my throttle free play within spec. (there was excessive free play). I also added some seafoam just incase there was some moisture in the gas. Then took it for a rip around my farm. Worked great no stumble at any throttle position. Now I will just have to put on some more miles to see if it acts up again.
