Has anybody had this happen? I don't think this happened on the ride I just took.. I did take a good hit about 3-4 rides back but nothing worse than I have hit with the old sleds. (I used to be able to teeter on rocks with the old POL)
And it just came back from the shop (Oil and filter change) (I would hope they would have told me) They are checking records and will call back.

This damage should have stopped the sled and tossed me over the bars.. I think I would remember that. (Picture # 2)

Mine's actually worse...first thing I bought after seeing the damage was a skid plate. That little cardboard cover offers very little protection to the oil pan :).

FM got one on his rx last year only it bent the cooler too. never felt it in deep snow with stumps. He rides with a skid palte now. Maxdlx

Is the sled rideable?? What are you going to do? I would indeed invest in a skid plate its not a pain to take on and off for oil change.

I don't drive a rage but I ride a 06 nyto, first year out I didn't even feel a thing, but on a pre check before a ride I found all my oil on the deck of my trailor, I seams on the previous ride I must have hit something very litlty and taped one of the screws that hold the filter cover on and it pierced a hole in my oil pan,Yamaha covered this under warrenty and supplied me with a skid plate(nice people) they had to pull the motor to replace the oil pan ,I would recommend removing the screw that is in line with the oil pan and install a skid plate, there is very little clearence between the cover and the pan.

I thought they have a dry sump oil resevoir?, so there would be no "pan"
the filter is right there, so that is reason enough to protect it w/a S P

Those yammy skid plates take a pretty good hit. I busted mine but if it wasn't on I would have had the same result.

I spoke with my dealer they said they had noted it when I had it in there and said they saw no leaks (They figured I knew it already) So that means it happened about 300 miles ago (that hard hit) and has been perfect since. I feel better now..

I asked the dealer to let me know anytime they note any dents even if they KNOW I KNOW already.
I ordered a black SP and it will be installed asap.
