I guess Yamaha ditched the IAC on the 11+ Apex for a reason. I wonder if the new setup would work on the older sleds??

Add my sled to the list of having the same problem. I can ride it for miles, come to a stop and it just dies. Then, it starts up fine. Frustrating for sure!

Well ran both sleds today The parts sled still runs perfect and mine idles down to 1000 rpm. If I blip the throttle it will go down to 1000, if I ease the throttle up and back slightly it will stay at 1500. So I tried the intake pressure sensor and still the same thing.

Tbay Sledhead I was reading on the IAC and they say that you have to re syc the carbs if you remove the IAC,
Did you re syc the carbs after you installed the IAC from the other sled?

I only changed out the coolant end. I still don't have a vacuum gauge to re-sync. Too busy fixing other sleds. I figured that the air end was set up for that engine so I didn't change it. There was nothing in the air end when I disassembled it. All the moving pieces looked clean and no wear marks.

Just crank the idle screw in till it comes up to 1500rpm when fully warmed up. Both sleds we did last week are running fine now. Throttle body tolerances change over time. deposits, wear, or what ever. The adjuster is their for a reason.....

I could screw that adj all the way in, or even completely remove it... no change.sx7001 said:TBay Sledhead said:I only changed out the coolant end. I still don't have a vacuum gauge to re-sync. Vx700xtc I'm in the same boat as you, my idle knob does nothing when the motor is hot, I've tried it many times and the rpms don't move up or down,
So that must be part of the problem why are sleds don't idle when hot,
I might be getting a IAC from another sled in the next couple days, ill post back...
