Can someone tell me the proper way to setup the rear suspension on an 08 Vector LTX with the Monoshock RA skid. The sled seemed to have excessive sag. I thought the shock was blown so I sent it off to Carver Performance. I had it revalved and reinstalled only to have the sag return. What is the set in suppose to be set at & how is this done? Tunnel adjuster is set at middle setting. Control rod is set in the middle and the spring preload adjusting ring is set on 4 (middle). Rider weight in full gear 155lbs. The rear heat exchanger can't take to many more hits from the studs.

I don't own a LTX so I can't say for sure but it sounds like you have a weak spring or you have to crank up the collar to a higher setting than the 4th position?

Are you just trail riding or do you ride aggressively over bumps and the like?
Have you looked at any info in here?

Thanks Irv, that chart will help. Any idea on how to measure the set in and what it's suppose to be?

If I understand your question correctly, the amount of sag should be at 40-45mm's.
Sit on the sled fully dressed and it should sag roughly that amount.
This pic may help but there is clearer/more info in your manual.

Good luck ;)!
There is also a ton of info in here as well "TY Tech" at the top of the pg.

I know what the Cam is but what is the Clip 1,2,3 positions? Refering to the monoshock setup chart.

On the shock, behind the lower collar, there are 3 grooves and a steel ring (Clip).

In order to move the clip, you have to remove the spring then place the clip in either the second or 3rd groove, which ever you think will work best according to that chart.

Going by your weight, I would think the 1st groove, where it is at now, should be plenty for you if your spring isn't pooched?

The reason for this is, if you have your cam adjustor cranked up as high as it can go on the first clip and it is still not enough, then you can go to the second clip and start over with your cam adjustor.

You will need a spring compressor in order to do this job.

Perfect thanks for the explanation. Yeah I don't think I need to mess with that. It seems like a good portion of the sag is coming from the control rod. There's sag even before the rear shock has a chance to compress. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to be.

Mine also has some sag to it but my shock rebuilder said that isn't necessarily a bad thing as you want some sag in order to "fall" into the bumps?

I am pretty happy with my 121. I am on the first clip and I think have my cam on the 4-5th position and I weigh approx 210-215 fully dressed.

With your's, if you are bottoming all the time, I'd try a higher cam position and see what happens.

With your transfer rod, try tightening (shortening) it up some.

yam429, Go to the RS general talk section and look under the Sticky Irv gave you . Look under studding ( topic Anyone who studded a 2010 Vector) Great info on how to save your rear heat exchanger. The second Page has some nice pic's. If you have some cut off pc's of slides they work great.

Yeah, I actually posted some comments in that section talking about inadequate protection on the rear heat exchanger. Even with the hyfax buffer added I still had some carvings in the heat exchanger. Running 1.375 Fastrac studs.

When That post first started I looked at my rear heat ex changer and had rub lines . I added 1/4" thick pc of alum and still had some rubbing . After that I added some Pc's of hyfax material I had lying around and it seemed to work all last year.
