08 suspension failure

I thought the same thing too about my update after seeing other peoples here. For some reason they didn't change my idlers. I thought it was weird when everyone else here said that they changed theirs for them. I think they revised the update later, and I got one of the first "updates". They had done mine last year in March, so I didn't have to wait until later like a lot of people did to get theirs fixed. Guess I didn't get the "updated update" parts for mine. Either that or my dealer was trying to cheat me and sell the other parts separate. Maybe I'll just get rid of it and buy a sled that won't break as much as this one.

Whatever you do I would like to ride with you someday in U.P. take a few days to see what happens with your dealer.I bet they will take care of you.It has to end sometime.

Well they got till the end of this week to get it fixed, I got a ride planned with my parents. I also keep thinking, hoping, and praying that the repairs will stop some day too, but they don't. Things just keep breaking. One after another, different things too. Sure glad I got the extended warranty (my dealer not). Sent you a PM about going for a ride in the U.P.

My 07 rails blew out the same exact way after the link let loose last year. In addition to the link, the rail and the shaft, mine took out my track also....

My dealer, who is normally wonderful, said that thay would not warrantee it a second time and that it was due to neglect and abuse (314 miles on it when it happened, mostly from my wife breaking it in and it looked spankin new....)

Well, it happened again this weekend!!!!!

We'll see what the response is this time.....

Have you guys had any damage to your center shock when this thing breaks? I ruined some of the teeth on the shock collar and gouged the hell out of the shock lower. I wanted a new shock but it was a no go from the dealer......

Yes and for some reason my limiter strap looks like it was rubbing on bottom somehow.I got same response from my dealer.Funny thing is why arent the other sleds I am riding with breaking?

I wish I had an answer for that...

They're Phazers are probably 180 degrees out...

When mine's in the shop, they're out riding and vice versa....

I had both of my sleds out this weekend (4500 mile REV) and my Phazer. I gotta say, I love the Phazer dearly, but I am getting sick of things breaking........I feel more comfortable taking my 'old' sled with three times the mileage because it's like an old hammer...IT DOESN"T BREAK!!!

I bought the sled to ride it, not to do new product development for Yamaha....I guess the 'TEST PILOT' hat I was given when I demo'd the Phazer last year holds true......

I really feel sorry for the guys with the first update version. How many versions are out there?I got the old 98SRX out again after breaking Phazer fri.But Sat it was just too beat up trails only put 50 mi on and turned around.Really missed Phazer cause it would have been great on it.But Sun although melting snow trails were just awesome on SRX.Pinned many times and railing corners under full throttle got 125mi on it was a blast!

I know the washer placement is going to kill warantee hopes and I will be honest with dealer but in reality looking at how the rail cracked especially on side not broke out it is very clear to me that the washers had nothing to do with that failure. That shaft is bending alot more than that straightedge can show when full force of shocks are on it.Washers which cocked the rails would have caused crack to go on top and bottom of hole not the sides. My camera isnt good enough to show the crack on side thats not broke out but it is exactly how I marked them.We all should get new rails with update kits since bent shaft has weakened the rails. And they still need to figure out how to prevent shaft from bending.Maybe convert all these to the Nytro style if those hold up.

At this point, I'm thinking of giving up on it......

Anyone know if an M-10 will fit into the narrow tunnel?

I've seen them used on some Firecats and it got me thinking that this may fix a lot of my woes.....

That is until the starter goes, I wow out the holes on my front tube chassis again, my a-arms need to be shimmed again, balljoints go out......ect...

Not sure with way back of ours is on that arm.Few buddies have suggested same thing.

ZX2's are cheaper and lighter than M-10, and unbreakable. Short tracker's like 1200 bucks with all the wheels(including 4-8" rears), swingarms, links, shocks, hifax, etc.

AD Boivin claims 20 pound loss, and no snow will stick to the thermoplastic.

One guy on Apex says he can never bottom his in gnarly bumps, but that's the only feedback I've heard so far.

Well, it's such a deal, and I still have to throw like 700 bucks at the stock skid, so I had mine shipped today.

So which one are you buying? I was looking at the Boivan on line. What ever you buy keep us informed on how it works.

Yes for sure.Very interested. That is a heck of a deal!I wonder how they mount it?

Just got back from dealer.I will admit I wasnt expecting any help.It actually went very well.I brought rails and shaft in and they all agreed damage was from that shaft bending. They will be talking to Yamaha and trying for new rails and a shaft and informing them of my plans for full bushings in that pivot.I think they must have been overwhelmed last time since this has been most riding around here in a decade.Things have calmed down some now.Whole thing went very well.Hope it goes as well with Yamaha.

Firecat skid , great idea!!! 128 x 1.375 would be kick #*$&@ off trail. Any one want a new skid and track.

Those new Firecat skids have a arm mount at back just like ours.Front slides.Fully floating mounts.I think if you got those brackets it slides in it would be doable for sure. Two bolts and that whole skid comes right out.Anyone put alot of time on one of those skids?

Other option would be to convert ours to a FX Nytro style.Take a look at one it would be easy except for shock setup.
