I am wanting to do a chaincase oil change. Let me first state that I've read many a thread, but it seems the only info I can find is related to Apex models.
My question: where is the drain plug located on an 08 Vector LTX GT? I've read in the Apex threads that it's actually located inside the tunnel. Is this true? Reason I ask is because there's 3 bolts inside the tunnel, but they look like they are bolts that actually hold the chaincase in place, rather than being an actual drain plug bolt.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Doubtfully its in the tunnel. There should be a black plastic cover on the bottom of the sled with a half a dozen or so bolts. Thats where you can get to the oil filter and the drain plug should be there too. You also have to drain the oil tank as well on the right hand side of the sled. There is a drain plug also for that on the bottom of it. Hope this helps

I think it is the lowest bolt on the inside of the tunne. I changed mine last spring and just checked my sled in the garage since I couldn't remember which bolt I removed. There is one bolt that is different than the others. Helps to jack up the rear end and use a flashlight to see it. If you start removing it and oil comes out I guess you found the right one!
I also did a search in the RS forum and it is on the inside of the tunnel of the older Vectors and Nytros.

Metallicat is that in the four banger though? Im not really shure now that you said that. Hmm could somebody shed some light on the subject?

3 cylinder. Every sled I've owned has had the drain bolt on the inside of the tunnel. I don't recall my Vector being different when I changed the chaincase oil last spring (but I was doing the engine oil at the same time and had all of the upper and lower panels off). When I look at my sled I do see a bolt on the inside of the tunnel that sure looks like the drain plug.
It is under the driveshaft.

wow i feel retarded i didnt read the 'Chaincase" part. And yes you are right it is under the driveshaft, its the lowest bolt you can see. Sorry for the confusion.

I remember some folks saying it was a pain to get at...that's why I remember where mine is. On my '07 Vector the drain plug is in the tunnel - was the lowest bolt that was in the vicinity of the chaincase. Not a bad job at all after doing it.
Excellent! Just wanted to make sure that it was the lowest bolt inside the tunnel, next to the track, and under the driveshaft.
Hopefully I will see oil come out when I unscrew it!...Only problem might be getting a socket wrench to fit...Any ideas? Channel locks?

I don't think you'll get it with a socket. I used a box end wrench. That bolt is very tight, too.

Figures...HA...W/ my luck, I'll somehow strip it too!
Just out of curiosity...How much oil should I expect to come out, and how powerful will the stream be?...Just trying to keep the mess to a minimum!

I would deff use a boxed end wrench, you do not want to strip it with channel locks.
Yeah...Definitely going the box end wrench route. I spaced out for a minute there and didn't even think about using those...DUH!

There isn't much volume. Just have a small oil tub underneith to catch it. The oil will be cold so it isn't going to drain quickly overshoot your tub. I just use a small butter tub and hold it right up to the drain point while I am removing the plug and it works fine.
