I have been having a lot of problems with my clutch and upon further investigation I found a large hole in the primary clutch. The hole is only in one location but it evident in other locations as well. Is this a common problem for 09 Nytros The problem as is from stock form as I have only had about 50 miles on the mods. I wish this was a warrant issue, is there a recall?

I did a search and did not find anything.

Thanks,

I have two Nytros and an Apex and have never had that issue. Not sure how that can happen. Hope Yamaha covers it.

It only has 1000 miles on it, so I hope so. Never had such issues in my 700 XTC - which I gravely miss right now.

Put the stock weights back in and take it to the Dealer. To me, it looks likes a crappy casting job.

Talked to the stealership and they will not warranty the issue even through it is clearly a casting issue from factory.

Put stock weights in, take pictures of it and the sled as well as the odometer. Send them in to Yamaha corporate and explain what happened and hopefully they'll help you out.

Looking at the chunk that is missing, it is obvioius it didn't hit anything as it would have broke of the edge of the sheave. The dealership won't warranty it now, are they going to warranty the crank problems the sled is going to have from being out of balance? Did you buy the sled from the same dealer? Also where are you located?

I agree with the above guys. Put in the stock weights and take it somewhere else. If that doesn't work get a hold of the district rep and Yamaha customer service. Be polite and patient, I have had some things covered that were years old and out of warranty, including 2 sets of 4 year old titanium Y pipes without extended warranty!

Thats the key right there. Weather you're a long time customer or a new yamaha rider, Just be nice about it and see what happens. If they won't cover it, maybe make a deal with the dealer or rep to cover the part and you cover the labour or 50% of the total repair cost. You don't have many miles on the sled so I don't see why it would be an issue.

Let them know you always have bought yamaha. Be it snowmobiles, boat motors, ATVs etc...but this refusal of warranty is just outrageous and if the problem is not rectified properly you and your friends will be switching companies. And yes, be professional and polite.

Loyalty goes a long way.

Is your sled under YES or the original warranty?

So you dropped the machine off at the dealer for them to diagnose your clutch breakage?

What was the dealers reason for stating non-coverage? Did they find something specific to make a denial, or did they discuss the issue with Yamaha and were told the repair would not be covered? (which would give a specific reason for not covering the repair also)

Clearly appears like a casting problem with the sheave. I have never seen this particular area of primary with such defect. I would suggest put the stock weights back in it and see your dealer. The weights have nothing to do with your failure but some knucklehead my try to blame your clutch kit rather then properly dealing with the issue with Yamaha and submitting the claim as clutch failure/casting defect. Just a suggestion to avoid you a headache of possible paying for it out of your pocket...

I ordered all the parts and the puller. Once I replace the primary, I will take the parts back to Yamaha and see what they can do. I am going ro do the work myself. Thanks for the help!

????? Why bring it back after you fix it? They're not going to help you out after the fact. You justed wasted your money and time...especially with a sled under warranty.

Sled is not under warranty. Just ordered the parts so I have a sled to ride. After I fix it, I will bring in the damaged parts to the dealer and see what they can do. Just have to be patient and polite.

I am more curious if anyone has ever seen this before. It is clearly a casting issue and the clutch is common across Yamahas.
