Thinking about switching my track on my 03 rx-1.like the weight savings in the ice ripper compared to a studded track.i ride mostly trails and hard pack lakes very little ice.Also what kind of drivers can i run,i have to run my track so damn tight to try to keep it from ratcheting.thanks in advance jim

alot of guys like the ice ripper.you can install anti-ratchets drivers to eliminate the ratcheting.

track=$420
drivers=$150

i bought one of those from rich.... love it... in fact am putting one on my attak unless rich sold it at haydays.... lol

it is not as good on accelleration as traditional studs, but braking is really close... u are still able to slide the back end a little, but there is definately a point where it hooks good.... i love the track, love the idea on no tear outs, and honestly, i think the way camoplast molded it, it performs better off trail than the standard ripsaw.

in my opinion this track should be offered from the factory on all sleds.... it works.

lol no i still have yours.i even moved it yesterday and thought about you :)

If you have to run it that tight, you probably have a cracked W-arm which is bending and allowing the rails to slip forward under hard accel.

that's exactly what i was thinking. i run mine on the loose side without ratcheting, until i broke my arm in 2 last year 100 miles from the hotel :o|

I guess these are known for breaking?i bought this machine new last year and it only has about 950 miles on it.I ride fairly hard but don't jump or ditch bang just ride fast.thanks for the replies.i wil check it out.

it don't take much. i don't jump my machine at all, just the occasional wfo down a washboard trail. broke a few (2 or 3 can't remember exactly) with about 4k on the sled

where exactly are they know to crack.checked mine out this evening, everything looks like new.could not find anything that looked damaged.

Back to the ice ripper track. I put one on my Apex last year and was quite disappointed with the results. Absolutely not on par with traditional studding. For the sake of safety, if nothing else, stud your stock track and don't waste your money on the ice ripper.
