thanks guys....i had heard that many times,so i guess it was correct....
OK,so can anyone tell me what the proline helix kit is?....ofcourse there is nothing on it except a PL and -1
this is the problem with these kits....i am now shooting in the dark to test other angles,I like this one alot, and it seems to outpull all sleds ive ran up against(apexs) but i like to try other angles....
Im hearing 54/44 dalton is good...i just wonder if this PL is already close to it???....hate to buy one and find out its same..lol.
any of you proline users know, you can PM it to me,so its not out in open forum.....I dont want John to get mad or anything.
thanks

Is the Dalton RED Secondary spring different compared to Proline kit BLACK secondary (tangs location 100+)?

YES...it is slightly LONGER(very slight) and tangs are correct to yammie....unlike the PL black which had tangs OFF somewhat, where we had to use 100 degrees....
with the RED you will use standard Yammie degrees which should be 30 degrees LESS then the PL black....(IE: 100PL black = 70Dalton red)
Ill be testing the differences between muy complete proline kit, which i ran 120 with...and the kit with RED dalton in primary and RED dalton in secondary.
I simply wanted lower engagement..so went with dalton red....primary.
and just trying secondary for the heck of it....I beleive the secondary red is near exactly like PLs except for tangs.

Dan, how many studs are you running? Also, when I talked to Dale, he was surprised to see that Prolines' kit run's with such high RPM's. He said that motor should not be spinning no more than 10,800 and when he says that and Ulmer says that, it makes me wonder if his kit is really working or is it just because the motor is spinning so high. You could call Dale and ask him for yourself..... When I ran my Proline kit at 10,800 is was no better than stock, with the stock gearing. To see a gain, dropping the gear and spinning it at 10,900-11,000 was where you noticed it. But utilizing the 54/44 helix, may just be the ticket to bringing that whole thing alive. Just my thoughts on this matter....

last season with proline kit, revving 11gs...not one other apex here was close to me...stock gearing and only 96 studs.
I talk to dale usually 4 times or so a week..LOL....And he will also tell you that most guys will radar BETTER revving 11gs with the proline kit..John wheelock, the master of the kit will be the first to tell you he designed the kit, tested the kit..and it runs BEST at 11gs....
I ran it on the gun here many other rpms....no other setups ran as fast....now this season with 23 gear its even faster i feel.....
I am pretty sure the proline helix is real close to a 54/44....possibly a 53/43....still not sure about it but it sure works.
I am going to test it now with the lower engagement spring from dale(red)and I also put in dales red secondary...I dont think much will change except engagement....we got 9 inches fresh snow so the lake where we were radaring wont be same...but i know how i can pull on a few buddys sleds...so we will see if its same..or better?
also,we got another setup here which is real close...same flyweights, same rivet weight, same springs...only difference is his setup is a 54/44...so we will run them off side by side.
I also think my ramair makes all the difference..along with maybe plugs, windage plates, and a few other things i have done for top speed.

How close was your belt coming to the top of the primary last year (before the machining and gear change?)

Dan have you tried the stock 51/43 of course cut for o.d. with dales red and red w/your 62 weights,as i am testing w/his 66 weights with g/w/g 2 shims and pink stock sec. at 60 and stock cut helix and 23 top shortie 144 down the middle w/chisles,for this weekend, and my gps has stopped working but now w/two teeth cut off my pick up gear,i now know it is right on,i will let ya know,as i am waiting on red and red from allen.

thats the exact same thing i was testing for....i always have a marker marked on primary....
the day i ran 120 on radar, the primary belt came to about 3/16 to 1/4 down from top of primary...
when i took spring out later,I realized i was damn close to where the sheaves come together...so Im pretty sure i was at END of my OD,this was a great test to see for my own eyes....then i had it machined to NOW come to TOP of primary...approx half the split collar taken away, and remainder is off the movable sheave side.
Last year with stock gearing..best i ever ran was 116.9,and that speed with stock gearing i was not even close to the 1/4 inch.....because as you all know the stock gearing in theory is good for 130ish...and ofcourse 116.9 is along way from 130....

Never tried the stock helix with this setup....keep us posted...
I dont want to VEAR to far off my proline setup, cause it really seemed to work well....just trying a few spring changes is all.
I think the stock helix angles are not too bad....you are running 66 base weight?..isnt that too much?..

Becareful that your primary clutch can't close further than your secondary clutch and bring the belt up and out of the primary or rip the belt in half! Things happen fast at 120 mph and belt breaking causes a loud boom!
